It is a metal amp so I am not surprised.
I looked and Aurora Dsp - Laney Digbeth is their most recent bass app. It is a complete bass effect suite. There is many audio samples here. https://auroradsp.com/plugins/laney-digbeth-db500
Ideally trying the demo on desktop would answer your questions.
Did you turn off all the pedals before and the processing after the amp ? Also you had tube drive on. Tube drive on 6 then you brought it down to 4. I am pretty sure that’s were your slight distortion come from.
That is what I meant to say in the video with: all built in FX is off. Guess I could have been more specific. Next time. 🙃

Edit: Actually I think you're wrong @ecou the tube drive isn't on at all and my knob turn was meaningless. You have to put on and when you do it has a strong yellow light. When off it's the FET option that's sets in, I think.

Unless I’ll click with the famous PSA1000jr that I got years ago and never really tried.
I didn’t notice any obvious distortion. That subtle saturation I would associate with normal tube warmth of an amp
More clean (or compressor only) I wouldn’t really enjoy on a bass.
I tested it again and @ecou has a point. If you you have the Tube off (like I had) you still have to turn those three(3) leftmost knobs all the way down, you then get a clean but very dull sound so a better option is to have them around halfway.
It's a good sounding piece of software that's pretty versatile, going from clean to hard distortion. That's how we like it.
I have most of the others but I always come back to the PSAjr for bass. Direct into a compressor can also work well for clean.

Do you have preference? I've tried both DDMF and Nembrini Voltour, the latter is pretty good. Also Klevgrands: Korvpressor and Richter.
I'm thinking of recording some bass samples. I have a floating point 32bit (Zoom) on the computer so thought it could be fun, maybe, to do some indestructible samples but not sure what the best setup is(I don't have a HW amp).

Forgive my ignorance, I picked up PSA Sr. on sale for other purposes. Is there a difference between Jr and PSAprime for Bass use in this sense?
(Ive got a bass and guitar waiting for some iPad connecting and deep diving but havent been able to yet. Been setting up the guitar end, and am now looking into bass recs)
I don’t have a set approach but yeah, a little compression always seems to help on bass guitar, usually one of the compressors built into Logic Pro. I forgot to mention the Nembrini Bass Driver which combines a PSA (SansAmp) style preamp with a compressor and cabinet IR. It’s very good.
I prefer cleaner bass tones but some distortion can really help the bass part sit well in a mix even if it doesn’t sound very good solo’d.

Actually the DigBeth also has a compressor pre (and post) and, you can load your own IR's. I have, as I've said not used it much so I haven't tried any of these combined possibilities. I just thought I should mention them.
A little update from my side. I downloaded and tried out the PSA1000jr demo on my Mac and am quite happy with it. It’s simple to use and has a wide range of clean to gritty sounds. That’s pretty much all I was looking for.
Now I only have to wait for another Nembrini sale
Yeah, it’s a great emulation of the hardware that’s also useful on drums, keys, and almost everything else. While you’re waiting, download the free Nembrini amp and distortion pedals. With a little tweaking, one or more may sound pretty good on the bass.
I've said the same thing about App Store sellers having videos for their apps. It's the best way to demonstrate their product and it only costs them the time to make a brief video, which means it's practically free and it's like having a continually running sales demonstration for potential customers. I can't think of one good reason to not have a video for your App Store app.

I used the TSE BOD (another SansAmp emulation) and loved it on bass guitar. So I guess I’m a SansAmp fan myself

My favourite combo lately is Nembrini PSA jr into Nembrini Bass hammer. I can get the fat low end I am after.
I'll probably explore Gigfast and some NAM captures from Tone3000 but for now I am very happy with the Nembrini combo.

I totally agree with @Supersly76 — for exactly the same reason: I really like the Ampeg sound.
I've been into amp simulations since the first version of Guitar Rig — well, not professionally.
Honestly, it's embarrassing how much I've spent on small plugins for AUM and Loopy Pro.
At first, using only ToneStack Pro seemed like the sensible choice.
But then I realized it's actually really good — so I never bought another bass simulator.
What can I say? It feels right — and I can genuinely recommend it.

The best bass amp is the one that provides the desired tone. Mammoth is pretty popular but I prefer something that sounds closer to hardware. I have a Dark Glass Omega so I find the Nembrini Black Ice to my liking. There are some good bass tones in the NAM plugins, also Overloud THU and TONEX. I prefer the simplicity of the Nembrini, single familiar amp approach for bass though. But that's just me.
Late to the party, but GigFastLite has quite a good bass amp inside.
Never found anything as good as external gear for bass
The SansAmp YYZ pedal designed by Rush bassist Geddy Lee is as versatile and toneful as it gets. Bass to pedal to interface.
Have tried Mammoth, THU, Tonex etc. as well; they just don't do it for me.
Humm .... totally non-expert opinion here, but since I went through the effort of auditioning all my bass amp choices, for me Nembrini Blackice Beta Gamma is the clear winner. Nothing else is even close. I have to confess I don't have a clue what all the knobs do, but it's next to impossible to get anything but good tone.
(actually, my favorite bass tone of all time comes from a cheap Danelectro practice amp, but we're talking plugins so...)

Yep I love it! It’s very simple just like the Sansamps that I know. But sounds very round and rich.
I’m not a fan of cabs in bass amp sims as they often sound a bit phasey and filter out important bass frequencies.
I always prefer that slightly dryer sansamp like sound.
Have you tried the new amp from Audiority (L12X Solid State)? It has a cab on/off right on the front but it is of course a guitar amp, but still so is PSA (right?). I can't access my own bass guitar right now but even if I could I'm curious of your input.

When I read that I was out 😅 I‘m not a fan of the Marshall sound. Team Fender amp here.
I’m not sure if it will sound particularly good on bass guitar. When I tried playing bass through other guitar amp sims in the past the low end usually wasn’t very present.
The PSA1000 seems to be modelled after the Tech21 SansAmp. I’m not sure if they used the guitar or bass model but it sounds very rich and juicy on bass
