Patterning 3 Demo & Birthday Sale
Hey Friends!
I was inspired by Alexandernaut to make a demo version of Patterning 3.
Similarly, it runs for 15 minutes fully featured (minus export options). You can access it by signing up for the Olympia Noise Co. mailing list.
https://www.olympianoiseco.com/blog/patterning-3-demo/
This is a bit of a trial run, so let me know if you run into any issues.
Also - it's Patterning 3's 1st birthday, so I'm putting it on sale, 16.666% off, for the first time.. Just for couple of days!

Comments
Hmmm...I bought this earlier, wish I'd known there was going to be a demo, as I'm discovering a few bugs in the Mac version.
Feel free to message me with a bug report. I fix bugs for a living.
Bugs me for a rating each time I open Live
The MIDI export dialogue box is unreadable in Live - white text on a white background
and the weirdest one - when I re-opened a saved song the pattern editor only displayed 4 sections instead 16, across 4 pages. Re-opened, and it was displaying 16 sections again.
😯
Ive always wanted to know: Is it harder to spay or neuter a mosquito?
(On a more 'For Realsies' note tho, thanks for the demo option, the sale and congrats on the birthday celebration!!)
Thanks!
I should clarify that I don't actually fix bugs full time. I also have a day job, but am holding out that one day there will be enough mosquitos with health insurance so that I can, in fact, work on bugs full time.
The mental image of a sterilized room with a tiny bed, tinier tools and little beeping machines has been slam-cut replaced with you clutching rolled up newspaper, desperately swatting at the counter
(Hmm... Perhaps a more apt visual towards 'what people think developers do vs what developers actually do' 🤣🤣)
Happy Birthday to your prodigy, Ben! 🎂 Thanks for the sale.

Hey everyone, just bought this on iPad and noticed it’s available on Mac too. It shows as another purchase in the Mac App Store. Does anyone know if that’s right? It ok if it is but just might wait before buy it on Mac. Thanks!
@evol It should work on both. I doubt you will be charged for the purchase on the Mac App Store. Worst case, you can get a refund, but the app store description says:
"Run Patterning 3 as a standalone app or AUv3 plugin on Apple Silicon."
And the latest v3.1.5 update says:
"Patterning 3.1 now runs on Apple Silicon Macs as both a standalone app and AUv3 plugin, working inside hosts like Ableton Live and Logic. AUv3 includes support for multi-channel audio and MIDI output."
It’s universal so you shouldn’t get charged again, though you have to go through the terrifying purchase process until it finally displays the ‘already purchased’ message.
Thanks @telecharge and @oldsynthguy ! Yes that was oddly terrifying
Yeah, worth it though, it's a very powerful app. I'd recommend Doug's video - I picked up quite a few tips from this one:
such a great drum app, and kick ass dev. thank you Ben!
@benkamen I’m having more problems - I just tried sharing a song from one iPad to another. So following the instructions in your guide, I shared the song as a .onps file, via Airdrop.
When I try opening the file on the other iPad (‘open in’), I get the error message below. Moved it to the Song folder, same result.
Tested sharing it to the Mac, same error, though this time I manually moved it to the song folder first.
I notice also there’s another type of pop-up on the iPad version that opens each time, asking me to subscribe. Please provide a disable option.
Sorry, but the song/kit file management really needs improvement, I’m finding it exceptionally difficult to use, particularly if this is to be a useful cross-platform app.
Update: the issue seems to be when I try using the ‘share’ option within the app (as per the manual). Using the Files app instead, doesn’t corrupt the file. But ideally a section for song management with share options that work within the app, is a pretty essential requirement.
Thanks for alerting me, I've fixed this issue now. It'll be in the next update, hopefully I can upload by the end of the day.
