Phrygians playground
New instrumental track. Using a new nylon electric guitar in this near the end.
I usually stay in the fusion area of guitar music but this one is 80s all the way.

Outstanding! Clearly, you put a lot of time and thought into this. Great composition, arrangement of parts, and mixing. I had to listen a couple times to take it all in. I really like the break to acoustic guitar, and the blend of metal and acoustic near the end. Everything works like clockwork. Right and tight. I wish you guys played in Chicago. I’m an old dude, but I would get up off the couch to come and hear you. I like this stuff.
I would follow you, but it looks like I already am. Hope you can check out some of my stuff. Peace!
Thanks for comment. I do check out some of your music. We should do a collaboration sometime time. I need to make a better effort to be involved on this site. I disappear for long periods of time
Looks like we are the only ones on this thread. No problem. Been there, done that. Collaborating could be really fun. I have worked with several great guitar players in the past. My favorite player was Tony Iovino. I met him about 35 years ago at a house party jam session. Somehow I convinced him to do a project with me. I had a 4-track digital recorder, a Korg 01W, a Fender PBass, and a Mini Moog that I borrowed from a friend. He would come over and lay down some great shredding. After he left, I would add bass, keys, and drums, then bounce it down to a metal cassette deck, and we would start all over, adding more tracks. It was a lot of fun. We were both really toasted at the time. Decades later, when I got my first iPad, I did the best I could with some mastering apps. I love this type of music. I was and still am a fan of Jazz/rock fusion… Romantic Warrior, Journey to Love, Brand X, Weather Report, Jean Luc Ponty, etc. Dudes playing fast in unison. I have absolutely no idea how we would do this. And so it goes. I’ve had a few cold pops and my wife is calling me to dinner. Chicken enchiladas!
That’s sounds great. Is that you playing guitar? Or is it the guy you mentioned in the post. I really liked the constant energy of the track. Track sounds good too, well balanced.
Al dimeola is probably my favorite guitarist in that era of music. Might be why I favor the Phrygian mode so much
That was Tony playing guitar. I played everything else. I wish we could have done more, but he just disappeared after we finished the project. Haven't heard from him in 35 years. And so it goes. Have a great week!
Epic guitar in the classic shreddering vein… like Yngwei meets Al Demiola (spellcheck for artists needed).
Respect for the commitment to guitar mastery
And composition skills.
You are too kind, I wish I was a master guitarist, maybe one day. (Mr. Joe pass was the ultimate guitar master, just my opinion)
Thanks for listening.
There are so many guitar masters in so many styles… but Joe Pass was truly special for anyone that loves jazz standards rendered by a solo musician. I heard him live at a concert at El Cameno College in 1974. He played for about 45 minutes and
it was truly magical.
But Eddie Van Halen was also a huge shock to the guitar playing world… and SRV taking the blues to new heights… and Leo Kottke’s 12 string creations… and all the current tappers that use the acoustic box for added percussion.
The variety of instruments called guitars and the possible setups and effects that can be applied make it a category of music making that defies categories.
Great playing! I like the electric nylon bits starting around 2:14. What model guitar is that? (Your new one - looks nice in the SoundCloud pic, but we see only a small portion)
The nylon is Ibanez frn10n. It’s the less fancy version of the Tim hensen model. It was 500 bucks so figured what the hell. It needed a setup since action was freaking super high but once that was fixed it plays great. It is one super fun and easy to play guitar.
I’m with Edward, particularly enjoyed the acoustic / electric duelling 🙏
