Perhaps… but the chances that I actually achieve personal creative fulfillment are greater if I can significantly reduce the amount of time learning to use the tool creatively and producing new creatively fulfilling work
Guess it just depends on what your pleasure is. Larger cranium size? Or, person creative fulfillment? I suppose it’s possible to do both. I’m just trying to increase my chances.
I wanna look like a friction' alien. Chicks dig that.
no sweat, if you return and have a specific hurdle to take (in the flow i sent) i can look with you..
(but i guess we’re in different timezones, the Netherlands here..)
@skiphunt you mentioning motion got me interested: can you record the midi (print it to automation), or can you record the resulting video?
It'd be cool if I could at least get your templates to work. It looked like the first template for video mixer, needed the information that you included in the last node template, but I couldn't find a way to link the node layout in the first template to the node information you uploaded in the last template.
Good question. I just did a quick test and yes you can record the incoming midi data to an automation channel. You have to select "record" above the timeline, then hit play. It will then record the incoming midi cc data to an automation channel. I've included a screenshot of the quick test.
I had already imported both templates into Flow Nodes, but how do you import the new Video Synth template into the original Video Mixer template?
thx!
Where @offbrands pointed: you load it by pressing the four squares between the ‘+ nodes’ and the cogwheel in the upper right corner (while you are in the video mixer)
14 bit scrubbing from xequence
Aha! A little more interested.
There must be something wrong with the desktop Flow Nodes app, because sometimes I see the “import” option, but most of the time the “import” option doesn’t even show.
Flow Nodes feels like a complex beta version that I’ve paid to “beta test” without even knowing how it’s supposed to work. Extremely frustrating.
I’ll try it again later. I do appreciate all efforts to clarify and the sample templates though.
I tried on desktop and the 'four squares icon in the right upper corner' seems to show and work fine here..
You don’t need to say any of this with respect. I’ve already come to the same conclusion. That’s why I just posted in my last reply… that I’d revisit it later. It’s also why I tried to see if I could do what I’d like to do, with software I already have, and has documentation (Apple Motion)
The main issue is that there is not enough documentation to get up to speed. And the fact that it’s too buggy right now. When you’re trying to learn a new app, and it’s not functioning as expected… and you don’t know if it’s the app failing? Or your lack of understanding of how to use the app… it’s entirely too frustrating. If I know the app is mostly functioning properly, I can focus on learning instead of vague troubleshooting.
I’m going to still try to get the @janpieter templates working, but I’m leaning toward waiting until the app matures a bit more with more of the bugs, issues and glitches worked out.
And yes, @janpieter is doing some cool stuff. It’s the ONLY reason that I haven’t completely abandoned it yet.
Yes, with respect is always preferable
I’m just saying I’m not offended. I’ve already come to same conclusion that you’ve come to.
Flow Nodes has a nice interface design. It’s capable of interesting results for sure… as @janpieter has shown. I’m just not willing to do all the beta-testing guesswork to figure out what’s not working correctly, vs what I’m doing incorrectly… especially for an app that I paid for.
@offbrands by the way... I understood completely what you meant by "with respect". People have to be careful how they phrase posts that are only intended to help, but could be misinterpreted on forums like this with users from varying cultures via text communication as you mentioned. I was just letting your know that you were cool and no issues at all.
I also appreciate the time both you and @janpieter took to try and explain this app with examples.
One example of the frustration is that in your last attempt to help me figure out how to import... I already knew how to import. That's how I got @janpieter 's templates in to begin with. But, on my second attempt to import the last template, Flow Nodes wasn't giving me the import option any more. I must've clicked on the 4 squares more than a dozen times before it randomly gave me the import function. Then after that, it wouldn't let me import again.
So yeah, it's way to frustrating with the amount of issues this app seems to have at present. I'm sure it'll eventually be a cool app, and I wish I had the patience that @janpieter has with this app, because those examples are VERY cool! It's exactly what I wanted to do with this app. It's just not quite ready for prime-time IMHO. I'll keep an eye on it in the future though!
I agree 100% on all accounts.
By the way... did get get the follow up template imported into the video mixer, and reconnected everything, etc. And, it STILL didn't work. Seems it's still looking for missing components.
I'm bailing on Flow Nodes for now. I can get much further with Apple Motion if I just put in a little bit of time with it. It'd be cool if I could do this stuff on an iPad though. For now, I'll leave it to users who have more patience with buggy apps than I do.
I found that if I tap on the first letter of the word in any such places I'm successful 9 times out of 10.
