iPad Air M3 users, how well does it handle Logic Pro hosting AUV3’s
Anyone use logic on an air M3. How’s it doing for you?
I have an iPad Pro 4th gen and logic spikes my CPU whenever I use more than a couple of AUV3’s. Anyone have any tips on Logic to lower those spikes (other then the “don’t use logic or auv3’s)

Comments
Do you actually get audio dropouts, or is it just the meter spiking?
The CPU spikes and it freezes the track
Hey Doc! Thread title says iPad Pro 4th Gen, but your main post says M3 Air. Pro 4th Gen doesn't use M1 chip, if I remember right, M1 was introduced in 5th Gen
Hey Gav @Gavinski I apologize the title is what I currently have, and I was wondering what users of the Air M3 thought about Logic Pro on their rigs
Ah, OK, would probably be clearer to change title to How Does Logic Perform on M3 Air - you'd probably get more owners of that model opening the thread
Will do! Thank you!!
I have a Air M2 and spikes are very rare. They really depend on which and how many auv3 you're using at the same time obviously, and freezing tracks is always an option.
do you use cpu monitor, so that you can see the efficiency & performance cores..
the reason why i ask is... i watched a video by James Zhan on youtube, who makes note of how Logic doesnt fully utilise the every core on the desktop apple silicon based macs...
its hard to say if that is the case with the ipad air m3 model... the only way to really find out is to put the ipad m3 under stress and use a CPU monitoring app which shows performances&efficiency cores
No, it just pops up at the top, and says “slow down buddy, you’re too hot!” … I think I have seen that video though.
You can use the following settings to reduce some CPU resources:
-increase the buffer size
-toggle on ‘load only plugins needed for project’
-turn off low latency monitoring (if activated)
It’s probably discussed into eternity but close all apps running in the background, except Logic Pro of course. It does help!
Restart your iPad Pro. Just turn it off and then on again.
Good luck! 🍀
I was getting a ton of spikes until I increased the buffer size from 128 to 256 and that took care of the issue and the latency is still plenty low enough for live performances. If you are only doing post production, I would increase it even further.
