help with verse chorus looper
Hi, I'm a newbie and I don't know how to start editing. I would like a 2 track looper in the style of infinite 3 looper - verse/chorus.
2 clips serial mode. each clip free length. no quantization
I pressed rec/play clip 1, rec/play clip 2.
If I record rec clip1 and press rec clip2, rec 1 stops (loop is saved) and clip 2 starts recording continuously. If I record rec clip1 and press rec clip1 again, clip 1 starts playing.
stop clip1 button, stop clip2 button - if I record rec 1 and press stop clip 1, the clip closes but does not start playing. the same for clip 2
clear clip1, clear clip2, clear all clips button.
If a loop is recorded in clip1 and clip2, then I just continuously switch the playback of clips with the rec/play button. Playback and recording start not immediately but after the clip has finished playing.
Could anyone help me with the programming, or do you know of a template? Thanks

In the App Store version, it is a little tricky to set one up. I posted a few v/c type loopers to patchstorage
This one allows the loops to be completely unquantized

This one quantizes the loops:

And there is also:

thank you very much
FWIW, in 1.x it is somewhat tricky to set up something like the rc500-esque project but it is not so tricky in the soon-to-be-released 2.0.
espiegel123, your RC500-esque is perfect, thank you very much. Can I have questions? I'm trying, testing different uses and I would like it to work like this:
Usecase1: I press the trigger (clip1), press stop, press the trigger (clip2), press stop. I press the trigger (clip1) and I want clip1 to start playing. But it only "activates" but it only starts playing when I press the trigger again. How to set it to start playing clip1?
Interesting, the opposite works correctly. First I start recording to clip2 (trigger), stop, press trigger1, press stop. I press trigger2 and playback starts immediately.
I hope I'm understandable. Can you help me?
usecase 2: trigger1 (recording to clip1), next I press trigger2, recording of clip2 starts immediately. Correct.
But if clip1 is already full and is playing and trigger2 is empty, I want trigger2 to start recording only after the cycle ends and not immediately.
Can you help me with settings please?

Using Stop to end the recording rather than Trigger wasn’t anticipated and required a change to the stop button. Add an action to the stop button to set the state1 dial to the Stopped step.
Trigger 2 while clip 1 is playing lets clip 1 finish when I use it. If you trigger 2 right at the beginning of clip 1’s cycle, it will immediately switch.
Is that what is happening? Otherwise, clip 1 should finish before clip 2 starts recording.
I would suggest using the loopy 2 beta and the project I link to in my Ambient Guitar post. It is a much more straightforward project as 2.0 has some features that weren’t available when RC500-esque was written.
Thanks!
What are the key features/improvements which make this easier?
Any benefits to updating existing templates? IIRC there were some workarounds in 1.x that made it harder to expand or maintain a template. And you gave up on some nice UI by using follow actions and phrase looper one shots.
Quite a few little things. The Assign Clip Settings action simplifies things a lot.
See how much simpler this project is:

Updating which templates?
I am not sure what you are referring to. Can you explain?
Groups are the right way to think about and build a phrase looper. Put the clips in a group and you can make them automatically exclusive.
When you trigger the next one to play, Loopy Pro will show you which clip is pending.
Once you want a loop to play once and then return to a previous (or selected clip), you need to use follow actions for that and cannot use groups. (IIRC the end of the oneshot would stop the group but there might be more to it). These type of one shots are a very useful feature in a phrase looper, especially for very short bridges where there's not much time to focus on creating music and tell the looper what to do next.
While powerful, stop actions are complicated. They are complicated to build with and debug, and they make it very hard to open up a template and figure out how it works or what it does (A feature which provided a succint text dump of all the clips and follow actions might be useful!). And they are much harder to maintain as they are a collection of low level actions on each clip which can have odd interactions. Groups are a nice high level, abstraction which clear semantics and less moving parts to coordinate.
You no longer get the nice display of what loop will play next once you start using follow actions. Would be nice to get that back ... even if it's just for the non-oneshots transitions.
Wondering if 2.0 improved in this regard to make groups handle oneshots better.
My guess is a few small changes to Groups (or maybe it's one shots) would make it much easier to build these types of loopers.
Here's a link to the template: https://patchstorage.com/dual-plus-one-shot/

P.S. Sorry for the late and long reply.
