JWM - Across the Platforms EP (EP produced in FLSM on both Android and iOS)

CW// "Princess" is an explicit HipHop track. You've been warned.

There are some footnotes in the track description on Soundcloud, but here are some more.

First of all, I used FL Studio Mobile for everything from creation and mixing to mastering the EP. I tried to use FLSM on my Android tablet, but after three tracks, I became exhausted with trying to work past some of the bugs. FLSM on iPad is far more polished so it seems, so I used that to finish the other three tracks and then master the EP itself.

I really flippin love FLSM! It's such a great app on Android and iOS!

For "Princess", I used Cubasis 3 to record and process my vocals, but I mixed them down in the FLSM project itself along with Malleous' vocals. I feel it's an amazing collaboration to explicitly diss this one toxic jerk I knew from a gaming community online.

For "Kowloon (2025 Version)", I sampled a few instruments from Beathawk via AUM to import inside DW Sampler. Seemed to work a treat actually.

I was stuck on the final track to produce for the EP for at least 2 weeks! I tried to then create an EDM Pop tune with a 90s flavour titled "Fakes", but just wasn't feeling it. Then my friend Sandi suggested I try some sort of track like Prodigy's "Firestarter". So that's how the breakbeat track "A is for Acid" began. Then it evolved into something that sounds like a cross between Breakbeat, Trance, and sped up Acid House. 😂

Anyways, you can actively listen to this EP from start to finish, or you can skim through it and listen to parts you like, or you can have it on in the background while working on bills. However you wish to consume the EP, I hope you enjoy what you hear.

All the Best,

Jim

I'm glad you did. Out of the six tracks I made, "An Epic Intro" was my favourite until I crafted "A is for Acid" yesterday and today. It started out as an homage to Prodigy, but then got some Acid House and Paul Van Dyk influences. 🤣 Became its own thing.

WOOHOO! The good old-fashioned "car test". <3 Glad you could test it out for me. (I no longer drive since the total loss accident in March this year.)

  • It's not my taste, but it sounds really good. Great effort, Jim!

Thanks mate. 😊 Oh trust me, I'll probably get back to Ambient sooner or later. 😉 These things tend to come and go with the seasons. 😂

  • Just bumping once to see who else comments. ❤️

  • @jwmmakerofmusic I find FLSM to be less developed for recording audio guitars and vocals than other DAWs. I saw your note about recording a vocal on CB3 and porting it over, was your experience the same? (Things like auto-tuning help, automation easyness, great onboard EQs and Compressions, yada yada…)

CB3 is far more adept for recording and processing vocals (at least at the current time). Two things I can't live without when recording vocals...

-Waves Tune RT (uses MIDI input to tune vocals)

-Brusfri (AUv3 plugin which removes noise)

  • Cool track. More cowbell!
