Getting up to speed in Loopy Pro 2.0
Let's use this thread for questions about getting up to speed with Loopy Pro 2.0.
The manual and wiki are being updated on an ongoing basis in response to questions. Michael has been putting together some great short videos to help with the learning curve.
Whether you are new to Loopy Pro or an experienced user DO NOT MISS!!!!!! the Tutorial Projects in the Sample Projects folder. Even the most experienced user will learn something from these straightforward projects -- which have widgets that you will probably want to use.
There is a new MIDI Basics page which will be getting updated a fair amount over the coming weeks -- and has useful stuff now:

Comments
This YouTube playlist on Michael's channel has some excellent fundamentals for the new features.
Btw: that video and some others are on the page I linked to along with some other helpful hints.
I will add to the page in an ongoing basis.
i've been watching some of the new features that has been implemented... i must say... the offseting of a audio clip was something i once ask if it existed...
now its a reality...
useful for throwing audio clips a 1/4 beat off.. 1/8 etc
Hi, I’d like to ask if anyone else has tried freezr from audiomodern, and motion fx from Bleass in loopy? I don’t seem to be able to get the motion parts of them working.
@espiegel123 im sorry if this is the wrong question in the wrong place.
Thanks.
And also, Loopmix user presets don’t load. Factory ones do.
Sorry.
Thanks.
Bye.
See . https://wiki.loopypro.com/AUv3_Presets
You may want to create a new thread/post asking about those particular AUv3 in the title and provide some more detail about what isn’t working. A screen recording showing how you have it set up and what is happening will probably help people help you.
The app language changed from English to my iOS’s language when updated, is there a way to change it back without changing the OS language?
And the glow on the buttons and icons that is now gone, is there no way to get it back?
To change the language back to English, go to the iOS Settings app and find the Loopy Pro settings. Set the preferred language to English. If that isn’t available, go to the iOS language settings and add (install) English then set the Loopy Pro preferred language to English.
In Loopy Pro’s iOS Settings, set the visual effects to the maximum if they aren’t already.
Thank you! This solved the language issue. The visual effects were already set to max so it still looks different than before the update.
It seems strange to me that you can't add & chain midi fx in a midi channel, in exactly the same fashion as you can in an audio channel (there is no pre/post fader '+' to add midi-auv3).
Is there a particular reason for this? Or its just on the infinite todo list?
It is on the to-do list AND you can implement effects chains.
See: https://wiki.loopypro.com/MIDI_Essential_Tips_and_Tricks
Midi FX aren’t really the same in nature as audio FX. They’re more like midi generator/FX hybrids. I primarily think of them as inputs. They’re treated that way in AUM as well.
Your point is well taken as they can also be thought of in the sense of insert FX. I imagine they’ll be able to be used either way in the future. In the meantime, as mentioned, you can chain them together through routing.
Ok, thanks!
Yes, I tend to use midi fx as an insert, filtering or changing a midi source (keyboard/ loop), I know I can route the effects one per channel, it just looks visually like adding within a channel makes sense - but, its fine ofc to chain across different channels
When I opened LP 2.0 the first time I got a pop-up asking if I wanted the tour, tutorials, and so on. I skipped that. How do I go to those now?
In the help menu, choose Open Tour.
I also suggest that you go through each Tutorial Project in the Sample Projects folder. Even experienced users will benefit from that.
Thank you!
Does LP 2.0 understand MPE well enough to (a) record & play it back, assuming the connected synth does the right thing; (b) edit the recorder MPE version of Midi?
a) Yes.
b) Notes only.
I just tried with the most extreme case - Animoog. Results were close but not perfect. As far as I know, only MIDI Tape recorder can record and play back Animoog 100% accurately. For most MPE applications, Loopy should be fine though.
[edit] I take that back. It was user error. I didn't have all the message types enabled in Animoog midi settings. Recording and playback are excellent.
If you could post a bug about Animoog on the Slack, that would be great. At one point long ago, we had it working on a par with MTR. Maybe some tweak got made that undid some of that goodness.
User error. See corrected post above.
PHEW!
I'm interested in using Osmose with LP 2.0. Any known issues? Any known successes?
(Thanks, @wim for MPE answer)
No idea. I would expect loopy to accurately record and playback received midi. Animoog Z is a pretty demanding test case.
Send me yours. I'll be happy to test it out for you and report back.
Loopy Pro has a free 7 day trial. That should be ample time to verify if it works well or not.
Osmose does not
@espiegel123 Thanks SO much!!!
