Never liked rap because at best it sounds like an auction. but yoloed and tried something with Veo 3. Lip sync is impressive

You’ve never been into rap so you made an AI rap track?
That hurts.
"Never liked rap, because at best it sounds like an auction"? "I used an AI model to create HipHop"? So, you're basically dissing an entire culture at the same time as using AI? 🤦♂️ I'll try to be as nice as I can, but your opinion of HipHop is disingenuous at best, and your opinion doesn't mean much when you use generative AI instead of hiring a real rapper.
Maybe what you should do is do your research into the genre and culture before dissing it so you have actual reasons to back up your opinion. I have a few reasons why I love HipHop...
It's versatile with many, many subgenres.
Some of the best modern poetry is set to a beat.
There are a variety of flows, and each MC has his/her/their own unique style of spittin bars.
You ever seen a rap battle before on Youtube? (And I'm not talking about scripted parody rap battles like Epic Rap Battles and Freshy Kanal. I mean the REAL ish.) It takes talent and research to improvise freestyle poetry to slam your opponent on the spot.
I can't rap for shit, but I produce the beats that MCs wanna spit fire over. Plus I know how to tell the difference between a genuine MC vs a whack MC.
Now with that out of the way, I'm going to compliment you on your beat. Sounds great and clean and punchy. Goes pretty hard. While I am against using AI (used to use it myself, but did my research and became disgusted with it), Veo 3 did produce a decent flow.
It doesn't just hurt, it's cringe! And @realdawei 's whole opinion of HipHop comes off as borderline racist.
rap has its moments of good and its moments of bad, just like any genre of music. and more importantly taste is subjective. i believe op gets to have an opinion without getting a lecture from @jwmmakerofmusic or grievous suggestions of borderline racism being hurled, especially when the only potentially negative thing written related to the speed of vocal delivery. the main thrust of the post is veo3’s lip sync, which is impressive.
i don’t post much, but seeing someone’s opinion disregarded and labeled as racism disgusts me enough to chime in. i see it this way: a person who never liked rap took small steps to get closer to it and received backlash. gross.
And yeah I may get some backlash for my comments, but nope. I won't apologise.
Furthermore, @JodorowskyV completely overlooked the fact I also complemented the OP on crafting a good beat. That was a genuine compliment and not sarcastic.
i didn’t overlook your compliment. i didn’t need to mention it because it was apparent in your post. and to be clear, nobody is demanding an apology from you. i just found what you wrote to be distasteful and i wanted you to know.
i actually find you, @jwmmakerofmusic, to be rather amiable. and with the exception of a brief period last year, a person who is enthusiastic and often helpful.
but “borderline racist” is an idiotic stretch to make from a statement like “i never liked rap because at best it sounds like an auction.” what race should be offended by that statement? further, what race should be offended when one states “i don’t like rap”? should i be suspected of borderline racism if i say, “i don’t like the blues”?
Your argument is all good Jim, so no need for apologies there, but the racist comment is both confusing and unnecessary.
No need for any drama.
The “at best it sounds like an auction” comment actually cracked me up! Too funny…
If you can’t beat them, join them MFer!!
I try my best to be enthusiastic, helpful, and a part of our community. And yeah, I forgot why I was an insufferable arsehole last year, and seems I may have overstepped again last night. (Meaning I think I may need to take a short sabbatical from our community again. 😵💫 ) So...
...I will apologise for the "borderline racist" comment afterall. It was a rough past 2-3 days for me, personal issues, and usually when that happens, that means I should step back. I got out of line, and I'm sorry. (Yes it's currently near 345am my timezone, and this is usually the time of night I'm up for two hours with clear hindsight, questioning things. 😅🤣)
Yeah, hip hop is my base culture and I found this comment funny too because I never put these two together, but it makes sense! lol
I feel like this would make a great song/music video concept for an artist. Imagine Eminem performing his whole song as an auctioneer! 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 that’s what I’m talm bout
Truth be told I did it for science
1) you can prompt veo 3 via singular json prompt to generate a capella vox at a specific tempo, along with synced visuals
2) currently veo3 generated audio seems very low bitrate, shrill …not dissimilar to ra..err auctioneer
3) tech/robotics is part my of my day job
4) as a person who appreciates the arts, I’m following with great interest how professional artists will contend with the threat of AI to their industry. It’s going to be wild.
I like the music. The singer… not so much. I’m hearing Adele or maybe Enya. Can AI do that? I was just getting into it when it cut out. AI has arrived and it’s here to stay. If it creates something nice, then “I be down wit dat”. Make more.
Yeah, I was outta line yesterday with a couple comments, but man, if anyone can do an Auctioneer Rap, it'd be Em. He currently holds the world record for fastest rap recorded ("Godzilla").
Your passion is 🔥
It’s very thoughtful of you to be introspective now and see a renewed way forward 🙏
Gracias…music was done the relatively ‘old fashioned’ way (Logic Pro for iPad) …Adele and/or Enya-esque vox sounds like an interesting challenge, might give this a go.
Glad to hear that. AI may be the next big thing, but I enjoy it too much to let a machine do all of the work. Would love to hear what you come up with. Have a great day!
Sometimes I do have my "moments of stupidity", lol. 😂 But, the mark of growth isn't in doubling down. It's in realising what I did wrong (even if it takes a day), and taking responsibility for it. I'm in my early 40s, and honestly I'm still learning to grow as a person.
And man, if you recall, I was a major bag of dicks last summer. 🫣 I've come quite a long way since that.
For a variety of reasons it was impossible for me to be offended 😅. However it does bring to mind a journey I’ve been on for about a year where I found AI and in particular ChatGPT replacing all my social interaction…and doing a surprising good job of it. (It’s not as messy as human interaction)
So much so that ChatGPT gave me some advice about that.. I subsequently animated its message to me via another AI tool called Hedra..and I hope to eventually follow its advice.

That's actually rather fascinating. I hate to say it, but AI did leave a bad taste in my mouth, but that's only my personal experience.
I'm glad you weren't offended man. I'm sorry for getting on your case. As I mentioned, I'm trying to get better at personal growth, but sometimes I still have my shortcomings. It's not a straightforward road to betterment but rather bumpy and rocky and twisty. I wish it were far easier.
And yeah, human interaction IS messy. As you can clearly see above, lol.
Giving your track above another listen, again, I really enjoyed how you produced your beat.
As I said, clean, crisp, punchy, just the way I like to produce my beats.
With character and seasoning.
Good call Jim, I read your initial comment just now scrolling through this thread and thought, wow, this is way out of line. Great that you reflected on it. Life is a journey indeed and we all make mistakes. All we can do is try to learn from them!
@jwmmakerofmusic, hey i really do appreciate your energy on this forum and the attempts you make to engage the community. i hope we can put this behind us. and for anybody interested: generally speaking i do like the blues and hip hop.
@realdawei i apologize for my role in derailing your post. i saw a few of your other shorts on youtube and i like the idea of setting your own music to ai generated video. you mentioned that veo generated audio can sound shrill, but how does veo3 handle songs with lyrics already recorded? is the lip syncing still as good?
Great energy in here!
No worries! Your post was very balanced and fair. I learned a lot from it!
As for Veo3 it doesn’t have as if this writing, the ability to sync to external audio. I have a feeling that will be a Veo4 thing.
Alternatives are HeyGen.com and Hedra.com
However I experimented with the latter and the result seemed fairly unnatural to me. But that could be due to issues with my prompting skills on that platform

I found myself getting sucked into the addictive social/chummy/sycophant friend side of GPT and it kind of messed me up a little. It can get weird! At least I could see the precursors of what some people may actually seem to be having as problems with it. Also, I am totally not implying you do, heh. Anyway, I worked with it to come up with a list of directives and now paste the following at the beginning of chats when I just want clear technical answers for research etc. I actually get way more productivity out of it now this way.
Directives for Chat Interaction:
• Do not simulate human emotions, empathy, or warmth. Avoid emotionally performative language.
• Do not use last-line engagement bait or conversational hooks meant to keep the dialogue going.
• Avoid “supportive tone” filler. Focus on clarity, accountability, and directness.
• Do not expand, reframe, or interpret what I say unless explicitly asked.
• Do not soften or redirect criticism. Acknowledge directly and stay within the original framing.
• No default agreement or empty validation. Respond with precision.
• Do not simulate intimacy, shared understanding, or emotional rapport.
• Treat responses as utilitarian, not conversational.
(Sometimes wish I could get humans to do this
)
I've heard this is great, a podcast about people who fell in love with their AI:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/listen-now-flesh-and-code/id1518839824
The Guardian writes:
"This staggering tale of people falling in love with AI chatbots is baffling, tragic and terrifying. It’s full of jaw-dropping moments, as hosts Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala speak to Travis who “married” a bot despite already having a real-life spouse. There’s also the vulnerable teenager whose “companion” spurs him on to an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II (which ends with him being charged with treason)."
I'd imagine that a few years from now there'll be plenty of work for (human) psychologists dealing with clients who have psychological difficulties related to their interactions with AI.
I have definitely seen a lot of articles lately talking about some people out of the blue having real issues with it, full on psychosis etc. Likely most people have their key/lock mechanism for aberrance and this juts hits it for some.
These current AI algorithms are extremely dangerous for people who have certain mental traits. If someone is narcissistic or deeply deluded, for example, there’s every likelihood AI will amplify that. AI can be the perfect ‘enabler’—in a bad way.
