BeatCutter Repurpose Challenge

First off I want to clarify: it's samples from a BC session I think would be fun if you could find some use for. The main reason is I did an experiment using only waves (square, sine and triangle) so there's no instruments, voices or other real world sounds.

The idea is to use any instrument that takes samples, I've cut them up so e.g FRMS is viable.
I think that it should only be those (sample based) and no other instruments but any plugin is fine. (edit2) Or just add them to a track and 'plugin' that. You could even use BC again but I don't recommend it. I think I will try iDensity as I rediscovered it the other day. 😃

It's 17 Left and Right (34) files at about 30 seconds each and the zip is about 80Mb. If you want to glue them together again it's about 8 minutes. edit: Channel files are mono.

Hope you think it could be a challenge worth the name: BeatCutter Repurpose.
In my browser a link to download the zip is in the upper right (Download)

Ps: I struggled with the name for the task so if you have a better I can change.

  • Do you care about DAW, is this strictly AUM or is that fair game, long way of saying I’m game and the idea of jumping in on sound design, this is good, real good thank you!

Absolutely not. You can use Loopy or Logic, Cubase or even desktop for all I care. I did a set with them in Reason on my Mini using Lunacy Beam (so good) as the main plugin. I didn't want to post anything myself though, at least not yet.

Thank you, it felt like a dead idea and that nobody cared, and that made me feel a bit down. 😃

I downloaded the samples. Haven’t checked them out yet though. @Pxlhg

Might have a go with them (or some) today

Great, yeah one of the purposes of chopping them up was to make them selective and mixed together* in new ways. I'm sure you'll find some noise you can do something with, I was pretty pleased with at least some parts as they're not too obvious BC.

*I used Auditor to mix about 15 minutes down to 8 (before chopping that up) and it is pretty awesome on blending clips seamless.

  • I’ve downloaded the files, though it might be a while before I can get to work on them, I have some other stuff I need to finish first. I have no idea how I’ll work with them, and may find I can’t do anything useful with them: it’s a bit out of my comfort zone. Which is the point as far as I’m concerned!

That's a sound approach, fingers crossed then. 😊

  • I would love to hear what you guys come up with. If you can give me a short snippet, maybe 3-4 minutes, I would love to add some stuff on top. I like doing that.
