    No need for any drama.

The “at best it sounds like an auction” comment actually cracked me up! Too funny…

Yeah, hip hop is my base culture and I found this comment funny too because I never put these two together, but it makes sense! lol

I feel like this would make a great song/music video concept for an artist. Imagine Eminem performing his whole song as an auctioneer! 🤣

Yeah, I was outta line yesterday with a couple comments, but man, if anyone can do an Auctioneer Rap, it'd be Em. He currently holds the world record for fastest rap recorded ("Godzilla").

    Your passion is 🔥
It’s very thoughtful of you to be introspective now and see a renewed way forward 🙏

Sometimes I do have my "moments of stupidity", lol. 😂 But, the mark of growth isn't in doubling down. It's in realising what I did wrong (even if it takes a day), and taking responsibility for it. I'm in my early 40s, and honestly I'm still learning to grow as a person.

And man, if you recall, I was a major bag of dicks last summer. 🫣 I've come quite a long way since that.

For a variety of reasons it was impossible for me to be offended 😅. However it does bring to mind a journey I’ve been on for about a year where I found AI and in particular ChatGPT replacing all my social interaction…and doing a surprising good job of it. (It’s not as messy as human interaction)

I found myself getting sucked into the addictive social/chummy/sycophant friend side of GPT and it kind of messed me up a little. It can get weird! At least I could see the precursors of what some people may actually seem to be having as problems with it. Also, I am totally not implying you do, heh. Anyway, I worked with it to come up with a list of directives and now paste the following at the beginning of chats when I just want clear technical answers for research etc. I actually get way more productivity out of it now this way.

    Directives for Chat Interaction:
    • Do not simulate human emotions, empathy, or warmth. Avoid emotionally performative language.
    • Do not use last-line engagement bait or conversational hooks meant to keep the dialogue going.
    • Avoid “supportive tone” filler. Focus on clarity, accountability, and directness.
    • Do not expand, reframe, or interpret what I say unless explicitly asked.
    • Do not soften or redirect criticism. Acknowledge directly and stay within the original framing.
    • No default agreement or empty validation. Respond with precision.
    • Do not simulate intimacy, shared understanding, or emotional rapport.
    • Treat responses as utilitarian, not conversational.

(Sometimes wish I could get humans to do this ;) )

I've heard this is great, a podcast about people who fell in love with their AI:

    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/listen-now-flesh-and-code/id1518839824

    The Guardian writes:

"This staggering tale of people falling in love with AI chatbots is baffling, tragic and terrifying. It’s full of jaw-dropping moments, as hosts Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala speak to Travis who “married” a bot despite already having a real-life spouse. There’s also the vulnerable teenager whose “companion” spurs him on to an attempt to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II (which ends with him being charged with treason)."

I'd imagine that a few years from now there'll be plenty of work for (human) psychologists dealing with clients who have psychological difficulties related to their interactions with AI.

I have definitely seen a lot of articles lately talking about some people out of the blue having real issues with it, full on psychosis etc. Likely most people have their key/lock mechanism for aberrance and this juts hits it for some.

These current AI algorithms are extremely dangerous for people who have certain mental traits. If someone is narcissistic or deeply deluded, for example, there’s every likelihood AI will amplify that. AI can be the perfect ‘enabler’—in a bad way.

Sycophantic I believe is the word, as the goal is to yanno… keep the users on their platform.

    Yep

That is what those directives help a lot with. Makes a big difference and I think makes the free tier last longer in that it is more to the point, less cycles spent on sucking you back in.

I highly doubt you’re a ‘natural empath’ - the insinuation you’ve stated as if empaths are constantly being manipulated by sales executives and ‘ other toxic manipulators of the human race’ is horrid.

The lack of humanity you’re displaying is by far one of the least empathic responses I’ve ever read. No amount of emojis would help sway it elsewhere.

I’ll quote that post I put up again as further proof that using generative ai points to you having little to no empathy, let alone a ‘ natural empath. ‘

We probably shouldn’t engage any further, you’re welcome to have the last word.

    Agreed ✌️

That is what those directives help a lot with. Makes a big difference and I think makes the free tier last longer in that it is more to the point, less cycles spent on sucking you back in.

Thing is I spent the better part of a
year using a combo of ChatGPT and Gemini as assistants. and yikes the most productive season of my life including work, health and passion projects.

Yah same, it has been pretty profound.

Once they started perfecting the memory and reasoning (after a rough start) it’s started to really take off.

Have also seen many other anecdotal reports of similar productivity and health/medical gains. It’s not all bad out there.

Yah the memory side has been great! Being able to add memories and manage them and the recent chat history being somewhat relevant too is a huge shift.

Have also seen many other anecdotal reports of similar productivity and health/medical gains. It’s not all bad out there.

Yah I would wager the benefits will massively outweigh the problems in the long run. It will give us some breathing room and bandwidth for a whole new crop of problems to deal with. ;)
