Stereo Bug on iPad

Bug on iPad 5th & 7th Generation!
When i Use Loopy Pro in AUM the Stereo Pan Left Right changes unexpectedly.
This is impossible for recordings or live gigs (for example: Left Channel Synth or Sampler, Right Channel Amplitube-Guitar Rig)!
If I use a different looper, I don't have this problem!
This wasn't a problem with the 4th generation iPad. Now I can't use Loopy Pro for my purposes.
Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you and have a nice day, Edgar

  • This can happen when one rotates the device...
...when using an external USB audio-interface this doesn't happen as far as I know?!

I've only encountered this when using the built-in speakers, never with 3.5mm devices or USB audio-interfaces.

  • I´m using iRig Stomp I/O as interface.
At first I thought it was because of that, but I can rule that out.
As soon as I don't use loopy the problem goes away.
When this happens, you hear a small crackle in the speakers and it swaps L and R.
After a while, it switches back to R and L.
    Mysterious, right?

  • One more thing-
I don't have this problem with iOS 12.5.7 (iPad 4).
I do have this problem with iOS 16.7.11 or higher (iPad 5/7).

  • The iPad 7th gen can be updated past iPadOS16.x (It supports iPadOS18) so it might be worth to try to get things in somewhat working order?

The 5th gen iPad will be stuck at iPadOS16.x.

As the problem only seems to affect LoopyPro it might be worth to get in touch with @Michael to check if it's a bug at his end?

Can you create a new thread and post a demonstration screen recording and post screenshots of the setup. This is the first that I have heard of this.

Can you post a link to a demonstration screen recording that shows the problem and also still screen shots that show loopy pro’s mixer in extended mode and all aum channels?

  • Here are 4 screenshots:

@eguitar : can you post your screenshots here rather than in the Discord announcement thread?

@eguitar - it will make things simpler if you keep discussion about this issue in a single thread. I've done some cleanup to move your other posts on the subject here.

I only see Loopy Pro on the Decent Sampler channel strip.

Which audio is getting reversed channels?

Are you able to screen record it happening?

@eguitar - I don't understand what those screen shots are meant to show. Is it that in AUM sometimes the USB-R and USB-L outputs get swapped? If so, then that's under AUM's control, not Loopy's.

You mention another Looper that works. Can you provide more details about that?

I'm also not clear why you're using AUM for what you show there. Loopy could handle that on its own. Just a thought...

  • @wim -When i use Loopy it swapps the Channels. When i use Enso looper everything is ok. So i don‘t think it‘s an AUM problem.
I use AUM because i have very komplex setting too and AUM is able to handle them.
I think it‘s an iOS problem. I had no troubles with iPad 4- genaeration and Loopy…

Can you clarify what you mean by “it swaps the channels”?

  • Speaker A Left channel - Speaker B Right channel- swaps to A Right B left ( on Monitor and PA)

Do you mean channels not passing through Loopy are becoming swapped? In your AUM session, only Decent Sampler is passing through Loopy Pro. Loopy Pro as an AU cannot impact any audio not routed through it.

Please clarify, does the swapping you mention involve audio not routed through Loopy?

  • I honestly can’t see how Loopy can have any influence on that, or how Enso could work differently. Neither has any influence at all over which channel AUM sends to. Sorry, but I have no advice to offer.

  • Me too :-)

  • At the moment I am on tour in Italy. When I am back home in Austria i will send you an AUM setup so you can test it yourselfe if you want. Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi,

Can you answer the question that wim and I asked, is the channel swapping happening only to the audio passing through Loopy Pro (which is only Decent Sampler) or does it affect other audio as well?

  • It effects other audios as well.
When i play the guitar on right channel and Decent Sampler on the left channel it swapps to guitar on left channel and Decent Samplar (loopy)
    on right channel.
When i am not using loopy, it never happens!

If that is happening, it is something AUM is doing.

An AUv3 cannot cause host-level changes like that (unless you intentionally set up some sort of midi control from an AU to the host).
. So, unless you set something like that up, it is unlikely that Loopy Pro is responsible.

  • I use Blueboard as MIDI CONTROLLER- but if I do nothing - have a breake - and return sometimes after 30 min. It has swapped!
When i use Enso loooer in the same AUM setup,
the hole day- nothing happens. left is left and right is right.
So i know shure the channel swapping is only when i integrate loopy. !!!

There really is no way that Loopy is causing it just by being loaded. You should contact AUM’s developer , @j_liljedahl , and explain the situation.

  • I'll do that, but I suspect it's a problem with the USB driver starting with iOS 16. I don't have that problem with my iPad 4 running iOS 12!
