Do instruments and effect plugins have to automatically show up in main screen?

I was just curious if anyone knows how to NOT make instruments and effect plugins automatically show up in the main screen when you add them to a project. I constantly just end up closing them all out manually. It is not a big deal but I thought there might be something in the settings. It is a difficult thing to search for.

  • When you first add an AU, tap the eye icon to turn off visibility. It is either in the window title bar or in the gear wheel popup depending in the window type.

  • Espiegel123, thanks. I do know about that. I just wondered if there is any way to not have them show up on that screen automatically.

One thing I do is to add "placeholder" plugins with all the options and routing that I need, then save that as a template. Then all I have to do is long-press and replace the plugin after starting a new project. If it's hidden in the template, it'll be hidden when replaced. I use StreamByter as a lightweight placeholder plugin.

That will work for instruments; unfortunately not for effects.

At some point, there will likely be either a preference or quick way to hide them all.

  • Wim, that is a pretty good idea, I would have never thought of that. Thanks.

Strange, I don't see an eye-icon to hide a channel plugin. But I have this for all other plugins ?

What do you mean by channel plugin? For instruments, tap the gearwheel icon to find the eye.
