Great point about the organ. SO sparse , yet it added to it . Me, I love Ozzie , Coltrane , Charlie Parker , Van Halen and the Carpenters . This fell into the latter category… I can’t see how it wouldn’t appeal to people but like Ian Anderson of Jefhro Tull and Jonny Rotten, I absolutely hated the Beatles . So there ya go. Thanks for your excellent observation
probably this is the best 3 minutes I've heard this year and I'm not even joking.

I thought it was a really nice blend of 2 sweet voices.
Stumped. You should read your own headline which says: "BEST 3 minutes you’ve heard all year" .
I did Google "Fight Me" and it mostly seem to be used by young girls hitting on boys so, at 63, I don't think I will.😂
I also tried to find movies where it would have been used (I do watch a lot of movies), to no avail. Never mind my man, I've learned, something.
My bad @Pxlhg you are correct . I was gonna correct it but I’ve decided not to because I really do believe it is . But my prior statement was erroneous, thanks for correcting ..
What a treat to hear that Pink Floyd sound with a female voice. David Gilmore was a big influence on so many that came later like Brian May. He plays such distinctive solos and must have a signature compositional style to make it sound like a Pink Floyd session with the added harps, vocals, etc.
I find ball busting fun and playful when all parties are on board. Sure it can get a bit bitey if it gets personal, but it can still be playful. Its not like 99% of people here actually know each other. I've definitely seen 'fight me' be a call to play fight online like 'roast me', where people (inexplicably to me) post a pic of themselves for others to shred, but yah, why reddit-ize our sweet little cuddle party? I think it was the silly boldness of claiming authority over other peoples subjective opinion by saying it is the best they have heard that came across as 'oh, dude obviously wants to play fight'.
As for the track, context is everything. I find these variety show competitions somewhat repulsive by nature. The whole 'art as sport thing' is gross to me, with the always fake editing of audience reactions and animated bumpers that treat the viewer like an idiot etc. Now if it were an ad with a cute AI generated orange kitty cat sipping a cup of coffee I would think, hey this track ain't bad. They mention coffee in it and the cat is drinking coffee, I get it! now if I stumbled on them randomly while walking in the park I may easily say 'holy shit that is the best thing I heard all year!'. But yah, context is everything and I just hate those shows.
I’m with Brother Gus in that I find it a bit naff in context. I hope they do something creative with their talents.
I can see that the title just begs for an honest reaction... Never a good idea. I think the regulars just know which threads to bypass and that header is clickbait for sure.
Still, I respect people that can sing in tune, sell the lyrics and create solid harmonies. Probably not the audience that hangs here and loves synths. But I get exposed to music I would never seek out and find some really moving work here that has no vocal content.
If we're want a food fight I'm in. I'm in a hospital room after my wife's 6th surgery and hopefully the last for a few years. Just a phone to pass the time while she sleeps.
Thanks... If anyone wants details on colostomies, my wife is an expert that just had her's removed and her GI tract is reconnected end to end. Just waiting to see if everything still works as intended.
I also find art as sport disturbing which is why, although I respect the effort and years of practice, I hate shredding. I don't understand how speed of notes played and musicality are conflated.
Also, I went to a taping of the Austin City Limits television show twice. For years after that I appeared in the audience shots on many episodes of ACL, smiling and clapping. I believe the audience shots on any of the popular music and dance contest shows are manipulated.
Still, I enjoy a nice song and sweet harmonies so I enjoyed the video.
@McD all the best wishes to you and your wife.
Thanks. I hope today is her worst day... No food for 55 hours and she wants to throw up but there's no ammo. And she's NPO so she won'asperate on invisible vomit. I just hope she sleeps as much as she can through this phase until they get her nausea meds dialed in correctly.
The surgeon just moved on to the next surgery and doesn't do much follow up. She's just miserable... Again. 7 surgeries in 4 years. Not sure I could do it.
I like this more than the link in the original post!
That seems to be the new medical system. Just processing bodies, clocking up the $$$$$$$$
Really tough to go through that for both of you. I hope the symptoms start to ease soon. That a tough 4 years. Here's hoping for a more pleasant life from now on.
You might be shocked to learn that Medicare has covered 99% of our billable with the hospital, RX'es and doctors fees. But you must be over 65 to have such coverage.
Capitalism without regulation leads to monopolies that vbow down to power because they have no values to protect. It falls to the people to protect liberty and I'd just like another chance to Vote. Just like 2020 he's pissed off that slender middle that chooses the winner. The obvious problem is autocrats rig elections and it's game over for decades.
Oops. Sorry for touched ng to n political issues. It took so long to type on a new Pixel Pro. I need to find that Bluetooth keyboard. I think I'll be banned for this 2nd offense... Oh well. IPad for tomorrow.
That's good for you financially, but from the POV of the Medical "Profession" its just same same, $$$$$. And where do the $$$$$ come from? Hmmm. My son just had a plate put in his smashed up arm (3rd surgery in a year. We pay 500 a month for private health and it still cost us 1700 out of pocket for each operation. I have limited respect for Doctors who claim they are in it to help people. Help people fund their yacht and BMW collection more likely. And don't get me started on the lowest form of medical life, Paediatricians.
Anyway, I rant too much as well. This was meant to be about your better half. I hope she comes good now and can stay away from medical intervention for a long time.
What we need it PetiCare... These Vets have similar training paths to a career and a big requirement for expensive equipment.
We have a young friend that spent $25,000 to try and save a dog that sucumbed to pneumonia after the vet said the dog was healthy to come home after days of ER services.
I'm sure many have to put their pets down due to limited savings.
Talk to a young doctor fresh out of school or residency that has high 6 figure loans to pay back.
They are in a tough spot for many years to pay off that debt.
Canada, the UK and other advanced nations have better schemes for the poor and middle classes to address serious illness.
@McD : Blessings to the wife .. I’ve spent the last two years in similar circumstances with mine .
I left Uni with a massive debt too. My wife is still paying hers off 25 years later. Our mistake, caring for the planet. Same debt, just less pay, because we wanted to work in a field that improves the natural environment for everyone. We're fools, fools I tell ya.
That is hilarious. Kind of neat in this case because you are in it, but yah this is one reason I just don't care for most comedy specials made these days. Editing is too easy to do and too easy to messy up. I hate shots to the crowd showing someone laughing, obviously to a different joke. The editors/directors/whatever think they are 'sweetening it' and earning their pay but they often times butcher a good performance. Or when you can clearly see that it is two or three shows spliced together because the audience members shift between shots, it is so distracting.
I love me a good live band performance video, or even just audio. But it diminishes it just a little when I realize that many of my favorites since the beginning were never just one performance, but a compilation of the best bits of several. I don't care if it's perfect. I care about the feeling of being there for realz.
I'm glad for the comments here that finally made it click for me why I can't stand those music competition shows. It always bugs me when the wife has 'em on and I have no choice but to listen.
It’s becoming more and more acceptable now to polish music to the point of it being an unrealistic performance.
What disappointed me recently was hearing people say that Ozzy was pitch-perfect when they streamed the final Black Sabbath gig, but listening to audience recordings he was anything but that. I think I would far rather hear the unadulterated performance from anyone, and certainly don’t care if it’s perfect or not.
Title of the thread rather suggests otherwise: BEST 3 minutes you’ve heard all year
