Honda electric car drone?

Had anyone heard the Honda electric car noise? It's probably the best song I've heard all year.

  • Haven't heard that one, but our hybrid Kia plays Steve Hillage's Rainbow Dome Music in electric mode. It sounds lovely, but it's getting a bit embarassing when we're driving slowly past people in town.

I just purchased a Kia Hybrid this year and I also considered making some recordings of the sounds it make… I’ll have to see
if I got the “Rainbow Dome Music” too. I didn’t get the Kia for the music but I did get it for the Highway Driving Assistance because I need “Full Self Driving” so I can catch a nap on long drives because… what was I talking about?

  • Our neighbours had a visitor and this noise came through the open window when I was having a nap! I thought I was ascending!

😆 We have to switch off the assisted driving alarms - it keep telling us off!

That’s actually very similar to our Kia. I’ll have to record it!

The pitch changes with (de)acceleration. I treat the gas pedal as an expression pedal mapped to the oscillators frequency.
With practice you can play simple tunes like “Mary Had a Little Lamb” we dated once not Mary, the Lamb.

  • I discovered another feature of the Kia “Virtual Engine Sound System”… there’s a metronome. I just can’t find a way to change the tempo. It probably needs an App. I’ll download the Kia apps and report back.
