Nothing like remastering for what ails you!

  • Really nice stuff, Mike. I like the bowed bass in Vista. Suspension sounded (to me, at least) like Monk and Philip Glass sharing a piano. Kilkenny was appropriately titled. Brings back memories of the Irish/American radio program that mom listened to every Saturday morning… whether we liked it or not. Funny, I like it now. My favorite is Laura. I like hearing an old standard interpreted in a different way. I feel like I’m walking down a familiar path and seeing things I missed before.

I’m working on something now that sounds like a heavy metal music equivalent to a classic 3 Stooges pie fight. Why I oughta… I should be ashamed of myself, but I’m not. Hope all is well. Peace.

I would expect you own most of the major Piano apps so I’d interested to know which Pianos you selected for this remastering album?

I was moved at 1:10 in Laura when this massive reverb kicks in like a dream sequence similar to the Zoom while dollying the camera used in Jaws on Chief Brody when he sees the shark and recently used for every elevator ride in Serverance. It’s something I haven’t heard you use before to throw on the FX on a solo work.

Remind me on a Friday and I’ll buy this one and you can get all the pennies for extra dog treats.

  • Nice collection, @LinearLineman. I always enjoy listening to your unique playing. You sound like no other pianist I’ve ever heard.

“You get me.” - Michael Levy

He was taught NOT to copy… not even himself. That sounds really hard, right? The results speak for themselves.

  • Thx @Paulieworld. Laura is a wonderful standard. Interesting starts in Am resolves finally in C.
@McD, if the piano track isn’t frozen in Ravenscroft i usually switch to Pianotech Steinway D, classical or jazz. Occasionally, the Petrofs, but rare.

Thx for listening @Dav and thanks for the fine compliment. “Original” suits me fine!

Can you do a re-master something and use any of the EPianos you like? Did you buy any PianoTeq EPianos yet?
Maybe an album of Rhodes or Wurlies… called it “The Rhodes Not Taken”.

  • @McD here’s an all EP album from 2019. It has Glistenet on it. I remember you liked that one

Yes. I do enjoy a nice moody epiano composition. The album notes say this was from you Istanbul years.
This was also when @rs2000 helped with cover art. Great cover, IMHO.

  • The image was made by a lovely guy in Germany. @chandroji. Remember. He’s a great photographer.
He was having health problems. I hope he’s ok.
We come and we go, don’t we?

Ah yes! @chandroji … last active here September 2024. Great photos probably enhanced with Photoshop editing:

  • I think we’re all agreed on Laura 🙏
I enjoyed Kilkenny as well… went there in 2019, very nice place, excellent Guinness as I remember !
