mp3 player for iPad?
I've used the Amazon music player only because they gave me a bunch of free mp3s as an incentive years ago. Lately they have locked up all playlists, made from mp3s I have purchased and are on my hard drive. I can listen but I can't edit them or add to them anymore unless I upgrade to some f'n plan.
I buy a lot mp3s from places like Bandcamp and listen to local bands etc. so a streaming service is not a good fit for me.
I wondered if anyone here has any recommendations?
I want to listen to my own mp3s, they can be local or streamed from my iCloud.
I want the music player to respect the mp3 tags and play through a whole folder without having to load each song.
I hate subscriptions but if I am forced to have one I guess I'd just go with Apple Music.
I tried VLC but it creates one folder and saves every mp3 into it, thereby doubling the space taken up and making a mess. I didn't enjoy it but I liked that it is free.

Try Music Speed Changer, it doesn't have this flaw and can play whole folder.

My fault - information above is valid for Android but not for iOS. (Strikethrough font doesn't work for me)
Neutron Music Player is supposedly the creme de la creme of music players, it'll cost you a tenner but read the description and judge for yourself.
I think it goes on sale every now and then but I'm not sure, check with AppRaven or what have you.
There is so many its a trial and error thing to find one that you like the best.
Some Options to check out, haven't tried them all, some free some IAP some paid. All these are decent and should fit your needs.
Neutron as @Pxlhg mentioned
Glazba Music Player
Cs Music Pro
Evermusic Pro
LMP
Doppi - the nicest music player

Wow, thank you all for these suggestions, I am checking them all out.
jetAudio is very good with several sound enhancement options.
If you primarily listen to purchased MP3s or files managed from Bandcamp or iCloud, there are several alternatives you can consider:
I've really enjoyed MiniMoon as a FLAC player, and it handles MP3s just fine, too. It's got a desktop version, syncs folders, gapless playback, a good UI; I searched for a while and this is what I ended up on. I wanted to like VOX but it had enough quirks and subscriptions I looked elsewhere.
EDIT: It looks like the iOS app is currently unavailable, so never mind!
i use this one:

There are so many great options, I don't know how to choose.
Neutron, Foobar2000, Jetaudio, Evermusic are my top picks but Music Speed Changer looks good and also useful for other things.
That EverMusic UI is clean, I like the simple look.
foobar2000. It's the only one I know of that lets you view a folder structure. Most of the others have one folder full of mp3 files and rely on the tags for organisation.

Doesn’t Apple Music allow you to play mp3 files on your device?
Evermusic (iOS): A feature-rich player that streams from your device or cloud, supports full folder playback, respects tags, and has a good playlist system.
Nota Player (iOS): Simple, free, and does exactly what you ask—plays MP3s from your device/cloud without fuss or ads.
Apple.
Thanks, Melanie. Checking out Nota Player now.
