guitar and drum effects
I have been learning a lot from many videos. but I'm still just watching a lot of the tutorial videos in Loopy Pro. I was wondering if there are any videos that specifically recommend which effects for guitar and drums to install into Loopy pro. I have heard about digistix 2 and primo and BYOD. I dont know which are the best ones to choose and how to find them and then how to install then into loopy pro.
I have started learning with my Ipad connected to my spark amplifier but I want to get vocals going also. I have a H8 Zoom recorder and I was thinking of using that with my Ipad going thru my p.a. system. I am a lead singer in a classic rock band and play guitar and want to start arranging my own covers and originals.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi. You don't need to install AUv3 apps into Loopy Pro. You just install them from the AppStore, then they will be available when you add them to a channel. You can try this with the free BYOD.
There are so many different choices, for amp sims, e.g., that it's really hard to specify the best for your particular use. You're starting down a loooong road with no end in sight.

Can’t recommend Tonestack Pro enough. Initial app purchase provides you with plenty of amp/cab sims and guitar pedals (effects) and you can add as you go, but I’d highly suggest the “Pot of Gold” unlock everything bundle, goes on sale quite often, so much bang for your buck. And nothing is forcing you to use these effects “just on guitar”. Can be put in the effect slot for vocals, synths, drums, etc. I just recently stumbled on their “cosmic echo”, an emulation of the Roland 201 space echo. It’s great!
As Dave said, BYOD and Primo are both free and great apps to download and figure out how the whole “adding effects in Loopy” works. Plenty of tutorials, but I’m sure you’re aware.
@randy : loopy pro can load any AUv3 instruments of effects. Use the forum’s search features to find discussions of the many great amp sims and drum machines available on iOS. In the Facebook group where you are also active you can use its search feature, too.
There are a lot of great options.

There’s an unbelievable amount of fx available on the AppStore.. Eventide, Bleass, FAC are a few developers I like for single fx for my guitar.. the choice is crazy..
If you’re looking for amp sims, I would look into NAM XT or GigFast Lite.. using Neural Amp Model files and IRs which can be downloaded for free.. So many other choices from Nembrini, Aurora DSP etc... search for “amp sim” in the App Store..
If you need drum sounds, Klevgrand’s One Shot is excellent.. it has built-in fx which can be handy.. There’s so many others.. search for “drum AUv3” in the App Store..
As @uncledave already mentioned, you’ll be opening a huge can of worms.. tryout as much free stuff as you can.. browse the forum for apps that you might be interested in.. so much knowledge on these pages.. the search for what will work for you will take time.. it’ll be a fun journey though..
Wait for sales if you want to save a little dough.. look for bundles to potentially save even more.. Black Friday + Xmas sales are typically some of the lowest prices for the year.. but there’s sales going on all the time.. check out @Poppadocrock ’s awesome sales thread to keep up to date..

Seconding Tonestack Pro for an all in one guitar package ("pot o gold" goes on sale Black Friday for a... 50% discount?)
Nembrini has got a small pile of free effects that work well (just got to shuffle thru the paid apps). Delay, noise gate, overdrive, distortion, wah, even a tuner
But all in all it depends on what YOU'RE looking to do
Guitars - if you're looking for authentic sounds, there's also rabbit holes of IRs and NAMs which replicate real world cabinets and amps... But it's really not needed if you just want to play guitar. The stat trees of options you open up are akin to Path Of Exile x7
Same for drums: do you want more realistic sounding (or literal recreation of real world) drums? Or electronic/lofi/trap?
OneShot by Klevgrand is a bit expensive (and JUST went off sale less than 24hr ago) but contains close to 190 well samples kits of all varying styles. A one-stop-shop for 'realistic' drums on iOS
But sample pack one shots are a very viable option as well. Using Koala (or Loopys built in one shot capabilities or sample chopping) can result in some stellar beats

Also, several of the free Nemrbini are awesome and for most guitar drums, I use Gladstone and Hammerhead.
I posted a link to some dope guitar soundfonts that are already fx'd. I use them in FontStack- they sound brilliant.

I actually just autosampled a few of the guitar soundfonts in chameleon, and pointed Chameleon to Cem Olcay's AutoFill and the result was this gnarly rock runs. I'll be using AutoFills with my guitar samples going forward.
what is the difference from the tonestack app and the tonestack pro and the "pot of gold"
Hi. The original Tonestack is outdated and no longer maintained; last update 8 years ago. Also, it is not AUv3. Tonestack Pro is the current version and is actively maintained. It is AUv3 and supports MIDI input. It comes with several amp models and effects, a decent starter set. The POG unlocks a huge number of amp and effect models.

Just looked at the store pages and tbh I’m not sure haha! It used to be that Tonestack was cheaper and like a lite version of Pro when it came to functionality, but now they’re the same price? Weird… obv I’d go for the pro edition!
Pot of Gold is just their way of saying unlock everything. When you initially buy Tonestack pro, you have a set amount of Amos, cabs, n effects unlocked, but you can in app purchase others or unlock them all at once.

That table is wrong. Non-pro ToneStack is standalone only and not AUV3.

Lies?! On the WORLD WIDE WEB!! Yea, ignore my posts, @espiegel123 and @uncledave got the good info. Odd that regular Tonestack even still exists in the store, no? Seems like its presence will do nothing but cause incorrect purchasing and headaches for customers. Maybe for outdated devices? 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe it is still in the store so that OG owners can still purchase IAPs they don’t have.
The 'Primo' amp sim is free and one of the best sounding, IMHO. I'd put it several steps ahead of Tonestack. More fsor the actual sound of the amp than the effects, but it does have effects too.

But fwiw Jack focuses a lot on drums & guitar thru loopy Pro, and is a great watch (even if just for loopy pro workflow tips n tricks... But covers a lot of what you're potentially looking for)
I must admit that I am quite lazy and I like it when AUv3 applications have a lot of presets that I can choose from and, if necessary, tweak a little. For this reason, I hardly ever use TB Equalizer, because I am simply unable to adjust the sound of the guitar to my liking within a reasonable amount of time.
If anyone else is like me, I can highly recommend RSS Passive EQ Collection AUv3 app. It has tons of presets, and you can try it out with a 5-minute demo that can be reused repeatedly. If you have Nembrini Crunck, add gain, try kicking it with Clon Minotaur, and use the ALL_Master - Thick Sizzle or ALL_Master - Thump Sizzle preset.
how do i find BYOD in the app store? I searched it and did not find any apps that looked like instrument apps. Can you post a pic of what the app looks like. Thanks

Yeah I don't understand the praise for ToneStack, Yonac synths are great but Tonestack is not a favorite, I have uninstalled it (I do have pot of gold) as I think Overloud TH-U, Nembrini, Aurora DSP and Artera (Gigfast Lite) and as you say Primo are way better. Tonestack gives you a shitload of options but the sound does not fit my ears, the wah is horribly noisy as an example.

@Pxlhg i hear ya and I didn’t like Tonestack much at first either, kinda similar to my opinions on NAM and IRs. Tossed it to the side for a while. Then I was recommended using some of the guitar pedals as non-guitar effects, so I gave the app another shot. Like NAM/IR stuff, there’s no plug n play, it takes patience and a lot of tweaking/dialing in, but I’ve since found some great sounds in Tonestack. I also play clean/edge of breakup mostly and think there’s better options out there for heavier stuff (most of the ones you listed). I will agree that some of the effects aren’t the greatest (agree with the wahs), but there’s also a lot of great ones (great delays and reverbs, I love their univibe and Mutron emulations, there’s some bad fuzz/overdrive but some great ones too).
The free BA-1 FX strip is the FX section of the full price BA-1 synth.
Hi. It looks like you've been doing correctly. The part with the leading > arrows is the quoted section. You can insert lines between those lines to comment on different parts. And you can edit out parts that aren't relevant. Check the Preview if necessary to make sure your edits are good. And you can use Markdown to decorate things a bit.
the one shot is 39.99 canadian and it only has a rating of 3 out of 5. Are there any other suggestions of the best drum apps?
It has all 5 stars here from 26 votes (how many had voted at Canada store). It's the only real drum app imo, Drum Perfect Pro is also very good but does not have round robin.

FWIW, although not on par with the computer or pedal versions, Tonex is a viable option that sounds really good.
I just wish IK would update the iOS version.
I should add that Primo is excellent (and free). Coupled with the nembrini pedals (many are free) makes for a perfectly usable guitar platform.
As far as drums, I’m on that journey. I’ve found the workflow of digistix2 to be the most accessible (and it’s on sale right now). Funk Drummer sounds great, but it isn’t AUv3. FD is usable though, but auv3 would be welcome.
