Jungle Suite

This one has been hanging around since May 2023 and changed a bit when I picked it back up again a couple of weeks ago.
A sort of jazz big band suite in 4 parts…
The first features Tenor Saxophone, 2nd Brass section, 3rd Soprano Saxophone and 4th Trumpet

  • This made my good morning awesome.
I like the third suite so much, but of course its impact is due to the second suite that preceded it. A great treat all around.
I’m really glad you finished this and put it out there for us. I’m curious, before you revisited this work, was it already broken up into suites? Or was it a big work-in-progress?

This was a treat! For some reason, it brought me back to playing games like Banjo n Kazooie on my old Nintendo 64 as a kid. I could see the 3rd act especially being incorporated into a Donkey Kong Country game. I’m sure this wasn’t made with video games in mind, but thanks for the nostalgic reminiscing nonetheless! 🤙

  • Cheers @Blipsford_Baubie and @Squishy 👍
It started off as a single long piece @Blipsford_Baubie although I did intend to bring different lead instruments in and out.
When I revisited it I just couldn’t get that to work so I split it into four which actually simplified it.
I also like the third section even though I struggled with the solo more than the other sections.
The last video game I played @Squishy was the original space invaders in the Manchester Poly bar in about 1975 but I’m glad it brought back memories for you 👾
The whole piece was done in AUM btw…

You went out on a high note then! Video games these days are mostly all looks and lacking when it comes to fun gameplay. Fond memories of watching my dad play pinball and Centipede at our local arcade. There’s just something about the sound of Geoshred that reminds me of mid/late 90s video game music. Might be the glide action or something (especially on brass stuff). Makes me wonder if they used something similar back then to score games. Your tracks always give me that lil bump of nostalgia, thanks for sharing!

  • Fantastic work as always @GeoTony! I’m really digging this, especially section #1 easily my favorite with that sultry tenor sax.

What are you using for the bass instrument? Sounds amazing!

  • Hello @GeoTony Tony great work indeed, love them all and what did you use for bass? frenq

  • Thanks @Edward_Alexander and @Frenq 🙏
The bass is the Fretless Vibrato in the BeatHawk Total Bass Pack. More or less my go to electric bass.
Well worth getting the pack if you’re a BeatHawk user as there are loads of excellent bass (electric, acoustic and synth) sounds.

Nice. Thanks! I do have the Total Bass pack for Beathawk. For some reason I always forget about all of the Beathawk packs I’ve purchased.

I always reach for Gospel Musician’s Bassalicious 2 when I need a realistic bass sound. Thanks for the reminder of other options, as this sounds great as well!

  • Oh, and you got me thinking, and I had to check; Space Invaders came out in 1978.

    Damn we’re getting old Tony!

  • Lovely suite, Tony! Well worth the wait.

  • Yes you’re right Edward ( @Edward_Alexander )… I was thinking it was while I was at Manchester Poly which would have been 74 and 75 but it was when I was working, 2 or 3 years later that we used to go down to Manchester for a pint, perhaps a concert and a game or two. The only music I remember being played on the juke box, almost continuously (or so it seemed) in that era was Pick up the Pieces by the AWB.

  • Many thanks @pbelgium 👍

  • A calming vibe here @GeoTony. I think you’ve nailed the soprano articulation ever since Tiree 4 but that bass is a bit of a scene stealer.

  • Thanks Andy ( @AndyHoneybone ) , I really appreciate that coming for a real sax player .
Although I’ve never tried it I have a feeling my arthritic fingers might be able to handle a (real) wind instrument… perhaps one of these days 🤔
The bass parts are all played by Piano Motifs thanks to @azul3D_Apps 🙏👌
