Everything handmade from start to finish.
A big thanks to him.
Thanks.

  • Wow that is beautiful. How does the guitar go through the iPad? Very curious about latency- but sounds like you love it!

  • That pedalboard is lovely, your friend is quite talented. So with a setup like this no amps are needed? Can just go DI to the PA?

  • Pretty compact, but then again your playing lends itself to less effects, so not really a surprise to see something like this.

  • Nice setup! I need to build something like that.

The guitar goes into pedals, then into the apogee.
    Thanks a lot.

I almost never use effects, except a little bit of plate reverb.
    Thanks.

He is running NAM XT on the iPad for amp simulation if I understood correctly. So, that’s the “amp”.

    Right.No hardware amp.

What do you do for monitoring the processed guitar?

Where does the output from the interface get sent? Some people send it only to the front-of-house. Some send it to an FRFR speaker so they can experience the sound as if coming from an amp. Some use IEMs.

    Ah,ok.
At home, the apogee goes into my Tannoy monitors.
On stage,i actuall go straight into the PA.
Soon,i will buy an FRFR speaker that will be driven by a QSC power amplifier that i own.
    Thanks.

@espiegel123 im looking to do something similar but concerned with latency of hearing the processed guitar. I know there are a range of variables but is there anything you recommend doing?

Are you experiencing latency issues? People vary widely in their latency sensitivity. Some feel like they need buffers of 32 or 64 while others don’t find it bothersome till 256.

Some interfaces have higher latency than others. So the interface matters. Most of the reputable interfaces have pretty low latency: RME, Focusrite, some Zoom interfaces (but not all..the LiveTrak and some of the recorders have reputation of being higher latency than the interfaces proper) and many others have relatively low latency. Some iRig models are not low latency.

  • @espiegel123 I have a shure mvi and a centrancr mixerface. The shure usually has pretty low latency (haven’t measured). I have no issues with recording but I am getting ready to do more live stuff soon and want to minimize any issues before I get there. Typically running a few FX/ preamp/ amp in AUM and haven’t really had any noticeable latency but it’s been a while since I’ve tried it out.

Unless you are changing your hardware, you shouldn’t have different latency live. Sending your output to a powered monitor via wire won’t add latency.

The big difference is that you may need a different IR or EQ for live work as venue acoustics change things.

There have been some good discussions in the NAM Facebook group on this topic. Short version: some people have tweaked all their settings to sound good in their room and aren’t prepared for how different things can sound in a different environment on different equipment or with a different monitoring setup.

Great point, thank you. Now just gotta dive in!

  • Really cool Flo! Really like it!

I was setting up mine with Loppy Pro and the Xotic Xtone Pro. But lately I made an even smaller one with the ToneX One pedal and the line6 hx stomp.

I like how simple and well laid out Your pedalboard is. Great job!

Do you find the mvi is only recognised by an app once the app is open? That's the only frustration I have with this device.

Yes I think that is true.

  • It’s a great pedal board. My only concern would be how do you protect the iPad from theft ?
