Elation (with Jankun)

Hi LPF! This is one of the tracks of my upcoming new album, a new collaboration between me and @JanKun!

As usual I can't really say which genre is this (ambient? experimental?) so I'll leave that to you :#

Thanks for listening!

Comments

  • Beautiful mix of instruments and voice, and the vocal matches the intensity of the music perfectly!

  • You two, thank you for making this place cozy and jazzy for at least four minutes. 🤗😎

  • I love it. The slightly discordant piano is just up my alley and I love the atmosphere and how it builds. The vocals work well and add that unique JanKun touch and it is very soundtrack feeling even with the vocals.

It reminds me a little of Jon Hopkins in places.

Another great Unlink + JanKun collab. Good stuff. I’m looking forward to the next one!

Love all of our collaborations and I am particularly fond of this one... the original soundscape you created with the sparse delayed piano is haunting and disarmingly beautiful. I hope your album gets the attention it deserves, all the tracks are gorgeous!

Thank you for listening Richard, it means a lot !

  • This is great! Love the moody vibe and the piano especially - the wow and flutter and the discordant notes which catch the ear. The slow build of intensity packs a strong emotional punch.

  • Agree with all the above, moody powerful piece, great choice of instruments and epic vocal performance 🙏

  • This track sent me down a rabbit hole. Like you said, hard to “genre” this one, so at first I thought thom yorke solo, then the vocals steered me towards my morning jacket. Not quite it… But when the ending swelled, it hit me. Took a lotta googling odd phrases but I finally found them. There was a band in the late 90s called Ours that did this sound so well. Of course, everything back then that couldn’t be categorized was called “alt rock”, which doesn’t do any of it justice, but for a good amount of time I was infatuated by this cutting, moody, yet somehow cathartic style of music. Thanks for the trip back in time, and for sharing!

  • Wouldn’t be out of place as a Scandi Noir soundtrack. Troubled, complex - and that’s just the opening piano.

Thank you @Luxthor . Is that jazzy? But what is jazz? Do you like jazz? What about you @klownshed ?

Thank you for listening. @unlink 's piano has some magic to it!
Jon Hopkins on his appeased and contemplative moments? Didn't think about it, but these are kind words! Thanks again.

It was about jazzy feelings and cozy places. This piece refreshes my nostalgic memories. You don’t need to follow conventional jazz rules and find a position on the imaginary jazz genre map. I love experimentation and fusion even more. Viva la eclecticism! 🫣😅

Thank you for listening and commenting! This piano is indeed beautifully fucked up, @unlink has plenty of sound wizardry up his sleeves !

Thank you for listening! It is great when a creation resonates with someone. The Thom Yorke and Morning Jacket references are extremely flattering though I agree with you, it is not quite it. Not familiar with Ours, will definitely check them. I don't want to talk too much of myself as it is a Collab, but lots of the lyrics and vocals I work on have this cathartic nature. I put tiny elements of my own experience in those short stories so that I can feel and own the words when comes the time to sing those. It is nice if you could somehow relate. Thank you for the heartwarming comment.

  • This is fantastic work, you two!
