Use iPad as a pro audio recorder
I would like to use my iPad as an audio recorder only. Is there a simple good audio recording app for iPad? I have an usb audio interface. I prefer not using a DAW. Thx
Comments
Theirs one that comes free with your iPad. It’s called Voice memo.
It will record audio from my usb interface?

It's free. Try it !
Voice memos does 90% of the job for random voices. If you’re going to be doing dance music where it’ll be all distorted anyway. But if you want some acapella stuff, where the singer really stands, voice memos will still do a great job, but you might want something better
If you want to use plugins, Loopy Pro can be used as a simple audio recorder. It can do simple linear recording, not just loops.
I know you would refer to not use a DAW, but GarageBand would be a good alternative for what you want to do. You don’t need to use it as a fully fledged DAW. Just create an audio track and hit record.
Or you could try this one:

.
Maybe Wavebox?
Thanks everyone. I have Wavebox. I can see how I can do it. I am trying to record from my Octatrack (8 tracks), to my iPad.
There are some free non-auv3 recording apps released by hardware companies, they don't get much attention here. This one was released recently. Maybe search for similar offerings from other brands, I seem to recall that Apogee, Røde and others have similar apps.

I think I will try GarageBand or maybe Wavebox. I found this video too.
Thanks all:)
Wavebox is really nice to work with.
what I mainly use for quickly capturing an idea (before it disappears into oblivion) is Dolby on, easy to use and sounds great too
Yeah, it's doing the job well.
I’ve been using Ferrite for years to startle churchgoers with my IR captures.

I've tried many but always end up going back to TwistedWave - the UI needs a facelift, but for ease of use it's the best.
Others to consider: Neon by 4Pockets and Meow, although I think this has become a webapp @SevenSystems
+1 for Audioshare
Thanks for the mention -- Meow is still available on the iOS App Store (all countries outside the EU). It IS also a web app, however the fundraiser to actually publish it on the web was unsuccessful.
