  • Hey Cem - I love this app. It is really expressive.
I'm playing it through guitar amps as well and its insane

  • @Jadestar just did a really great demo of Ova and I think it showed off the functions really well. This is my favorite Cem Synth currently and it's extremely expressive. Like all of Cem's apps being grounded in proper music theory, the tutorial does a great job explaining in layman terms how ADSR works and how it relates to ambient music.

    It's a great synth. Thx @sfm @jadestar and @cem_olcay for the showcase!

  • TLDR, can this be used as a midi controller as well?

  • edited September 2025

    Nope @Poppadocrock

One of the things I would have shown is how well it pairs with @cem_olcay 's Kebarp/Keboard.

It's so cool that 3 of them fitting in the iphone screen

Yeah, it sounds cool, but I was also hoping you could play the interface and its midi control possibilities. That would be cool if it could do double duty.

Congrats on another great release @cem_olcay

Right on. Yea I like kebarp. Thanks for the tip.

  • When I turn the resonance past 50% you hear a constant beep.

  • And I can play the synth only with the normal inbuild keyboard in Aum.

It is an analog modeled, self resonating filter. It starts resonating when you increase the resonance

Check the MPE mode on the settings menu when you play the synth with external gear. When the MPE mode is enabled it expects the MIDI from the channels 2-16. You can turn it off (single-channel mode) and play with your normal hardware.

  • Thanks for the quick answers.

The MIDI output is done. The new update will be live soon!

    • Distance, X-position, Y-position and Angle modulations are MIDI CC assignable.
    • If you enable the MPE mode, they will be sent to separate channels.
    • You can assign the CC numbers on the settings menu.

@cem_olcay MIDI out going to be great. 😀Does Ova have a midi panic button as can see a lot of stuck midi note instances coming from this if you go to crazy with count and speed of balls. 🥎. Also any plans on adding some lock functionality to the synth parameters controls as I’m finding when I swipe left to expose the controls that are off screen I inevitably change resonance or attack etc by mastake by accidentally touching.

  • Is the bug @Nighur, @Pxlhg and I reported fixed?

It’s not technically a bug, the physics engine stops working when the app (or host) goes into the background. They do this to prevent the app (or game) from draining the battery and resources while it’s backgrounded.

  • I think there is some missunderstanding here, I'm not putting the plugin or the host app in the background...I'm simply closing it in AUM...is that the same?

It shouldn't stop when you close the AUM window, like in the video:

Could it be an AUM setting, I don't know?

    • BTW this is the new MIDI out version.
    • When the balls are active and the app backgrounded the notes were stuck (balls keep stationary and playing them). Fixed that issue (thanks @enkaytee for the bug report).
    • Added MIDI panic button thanks to @Jumpercollins

Hazaa! Great news on the MIDI out. Ova controlling Testere is gonna be one helluvah combo 🤙

  • I definitely have the same problem within AUM. If close my Ova windows and leave AUM open its like the Ova 'balls' freeze wherever they are until I reopen the Ova window.

The same thing happens to me in AUM. As soon as I close the window, the sequencer stops. The same is happening in Drambo.

  • I found a way keeping the physics engine running when it's backgrounded.

  • Great, I'm looking forward to the update

  • The new version is live!

  • @cem_olcay
Noticed the balls begin to speed up over time and I gotta readjust the speed I want after a bit. Is that intended/built in (like gain over time)? Is there a way to toggle it?
Pretty gosh dern excited to try the midi out! FRMS is calling…

FRMS + Ova is definitely dope

  • Should the new version work as a midicontroller in Aum?

Yes, the hex pads are sending MIDI notes and cc now!
For clarification, it's not loaded into the MIDI app slot in AUM, you can just route Ova Synth MIDI Out in the MIDI mixer.
