AUM Audio Routing

I have to be overlooking something here. Trying to record/overdub the audio from SQSL’s RSVP (neither AUV3 nor IAA, far as I can tell) into an AUM project.

Focusrite 4i4, which, as far as I can tell, can’t be reconfigured from within iPadOS.

Any clues as to what I’m missing? Should be straightforward, but damned if I can see it.

  • On the 2i2 4th Gen inputs 3&4 are by default configured for loopback recording which makes it possible to record all audio produced by the iPad (that means everything). So when recording audio from the other apps using loopback the host app should not produce any audio as it will get recorded as well...

I suspect the 4i4 uses inputs 5&6 for loopback...

  • You can't just record the audio to a wav file and then use an AUM file player? RSVP's AppStore description says that it can record the output to an audio file.

Failing that, is your actual question about how to configure loopback in the 4i4?

There's no connection from RSVP (fantastic app, love it) so you can only record to disc and then import the audio file to AUM or whatever. I have 2i2 and have to learn what Samu is talking about regarding loopback, sounds interesting.

    Edit: I don't have 4th gen 2i2, damn...

  • Loopback sounds like what I’m looking for. Off to learn something new- thanks to all!

Does RSVP have the ability to run in background? If not, you're going to have a hard time recording in AUM even if you get loopback working.

Yes, works like a charm. As someone whose first musical memories were 78rpm vinyl I’m constantly blown away by what’s possible now.
