Logic Studio Bass: any way to add vibrato?

edited September 2025 in Logic Pro

I love the Studio Bass in Logic. IMO, it's the best sounding bass and most realistically responsive bass on iOS, especially for live playing. However, I'm used to MODO Bass on desktop which has built in vibrato on the mod wheel or aftertouch, so I've been missing this in Logic on iOS.

Is there any way to add that to the mod wheel or aftertouch on iOS? Perhaps with another effect?

  • You could try with the pitch wheel.

I think that may be the only option. I really like setting it to aftertouch in MODO because it frees up both of your hands, but it's not possible in Logic form what I can tell.

As far as effects go, there’s one that’s just called Vibrato that’s a couple bucks. Baby Audio has a free one called Pitch Drift that can simulate vibrato, but I don’t think it will go fast enough for your usecase. Pretty much any Chorus effect will have a vibrato toggle; FAC Chorus is a great one. And I just had a mess around with Modley. It’s a delay app, but if set it to the fastest speed and then insert the Vibrato effect in the PRE section, it seems to get the job done

Edit- gyrovibe is another free one. If you turn off/down the experimental settings you can get straight vibrato going

Use the built in Logic "Scanner Vibrato" plug-in after Studio Bass and use the Modifier MIDI fx to control the Depth parameter via the modulation wheel/aftertouch etc.

This is what it would look like in Logic on the Mac in MIDI fx, you can control how much depth you want at max levels with the Scale slider.

Oh very nice! This is exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks a million!!

Also thanks to @Squishy for the suggestions as well. Some of these will come in handy too for general stuff I'm sure.

  • 🤙 happy vibrating!
