re-routing MIDI - please remind me...
Can MIDI in to AUM be re-routed to another channel? eg one foot controller in but controlling different apps via channel re-routing?
Comments
You can use midi busses for that. Set up a bus for each destination. Route the MIDI in to each bus. Disable all the ones you don’t want and enable the one you do.
Or, use mfxStrip, and control the output MIDI channel using the AUv3 parameter for that.
cool, thanks wim - I want to the footswitch (one channel only) in to AUM and then setup the five Lumbeat drums apps to a different channel, so they all do not start playing at the same time as they do if all loaded, as required under the IAA paradigm. If each is on a different channel, then I can re-route the footswitch on a per session basis. If you get me
I'm not sure I do get it. If you start the AUM transport, they'll all start regardless of whether the foot switch is routed to them or not, won't they?
No, not if they are only loaded via a session, but actually controlled via the footswitch. I do not use the AUM transport. I simply set the BT 500 (the footswitch) as the MIDI in to the drum app. Making sure AUM is NOT selected. Using Mozaic and the session it loads the drum app, and the beats/drum sets.
I see. You should be good if you don't start the AUM transport and don't have Ableton Link enabled in AUM and / or the drum apps.
thanks
