Hello everyone!
Hi, my name i Luca, i come from Italy and one of my hobbies is making some noise with my ipad.
I started in the 90' with a Roland W30, but some years later i discovered a software that changed my way to make elecronic music: ModPlug Tracker. Fast forward to 2016 when i bought an Ipad Mini 4...and Korg Gadget ![]()
I've never published my tracks, but who knows, maybe i'll upload somenthing on soundcloud in the next future.
My current (minimal) setup:
Ipad Pro 12.9 M2 128GB
Akg K270 Studio Headphones
Korg Gadget (with some IAP's)
Groove Rider 2
Grand Finale 2
SampleCrate
Thanks to the Loppy Pro community! I've learned a lot of things reading this forum.

Tough living on the 2nd floor.
I think I might have seen you before.
Welcome!
Haha, yeah, it builds character!
Where have you seen me?
Thanks for the welcome!
Hiya Luca, I also thought of that Suzanne Vega song when I read those first words of your introduction.
Anyway, welcome.
Benvenuti! Glad to see you're here, and glad to hear about your setup. Quite a great setup indeed. Hope you will enjoy your stay here.
Thanks!
aah i forgot the song, now i got the thing about the second floor
Thanks jwm. Yes i love Korg Gadget and i love GR2 even more, the right balance between a Groove Box and a DAW. I make house music (deep, minimal, afro...), and to me KG and GR2 are the perfect tools for this genre.
Definitely! Coincidental that you mention House music, for that's exactly what I'm producing in Auxy Studio at the moment. ❤️ Got any examples to share with us under the Creations and Collaborations section?
I really love house music! energy, good vibes…
I’m working (in my spare time) on a couple of tracks and I hope to upload on SoundCloud, and here, before the end of the year.
I’ll be happy to listen to your track when it’s finished!
Sounds good mate.
Cheers.
🍻
Are you using the gadgets in GR? I'll always love Gadget as it has what I fell the best PianoRoll, and the groove maker thing on the drum Gadgets is awesome. I use the gadgets directly in AUM these days.
I have some complimentary apps that I used to use with Gadget, like Toool and
Odessi
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/toool-music-production/id1553895271
Even the Auto Generated templates exported as a Midi is a gr8 way to get going in Gadget.
I used to build the midi there, export and import into Gadget and assign whatever synth- it was fun times. Which Gadget IAP's did u pickup?
I have tons of presets mostly for Bilboa, Sydney, and Vancouver- but yeah, use those Gadget AUv's in GrooveRider! Good stuff!
Yes, sometimes i use auv3 gadgets in GR2, but i love the GR2 internal sampler and i'm still learning Poison 202 and Pure Acid.
Gadget IAP's i have are: Bilboa, Abu Dhabi, Sidney, Vancouver, Stockholm, iMS20, iM1 and the MonoPoly
I didn't know Toool, thanks for the link, seems a fun app to use.
The problem is that my mind doesn't work well if i have too much possibilities, i really need constraints to be creative. I tried Logic pro on Ipad, fantastic app but...too much for me. Gadget is perfect because you have to work inside it's limits, the same with GR2 where you have 16 parts and limited amount of FX's
Another flaw of mine is that I am a perfectionist. i tweak knobs, change values, over and over. To avoid this thing i'm starting to resample in GR2 so i can't go back...find a sound i like, apply FX's, resample it to a new part and call it done.
Cheers
You guys are funny 😄
@pedro I absolutely love reading your music theory responses. You're on another level.
@Luc_A I thrive in minimalism. Have you seen @sfm GR tutorial series? He made like 20 + parts. I don't own GR or GR II, but am an avid user of Poison 202, and Pure Acid. It's some great software. The apps you mentioned are all top tier. I would be interested in hearing some of the stuff you're creating. I see you also dig the Korg samplers. I love Vancouver. I find all the Korg presets to be inspiring, but especially the Vancouver and Bilboa presets.
Man, thanks but you give me way too much credit. I just grew up looking at harmony from the bossa nova angle, guys like tom jobim and chico buarque were my idols, as well as zeca afonso and sérgio godinho on this side of the atlantic. It’s all diatonic harmony, I don’t know much outside of it, although every kind of “world “ scales or drum patterns fascinate me and I may have occasionally spoken overly passionately about it 🤷♂️
I'm working on a couple of tracks and i hope to upload them before the end of the year (finger crossed)
Yes i've seen some of the GR2 tutorials from @sfm ,very useful!
I've bought the gadget samplers before the release of GR2, they are fun to use, but if i'm using GR2 i prefer to use it's internal sampler because it is a 'all in one' solution.
I think that Bilboa is my favorite gadget sampler, lot of great presets. Sidney is the second one, especially for the time stretching feauture.
