I wonder if @LinearLineman has heard her play.
Truly mind blowing skills!

Check out her trios when Anthony Jackson was well enough to play bass with her. Absolutely mindblowing.
The joy on her face! Thanks for this
She’s awesome. Been a fan for a while. She’s playing a concert this weekend in Duluth, Georgia if anyone’s near. Interesting looking curved cymbal the drummer has.
I saw the interview with Rick Beato the other day, she was well worth listening to talking as well.

This is fantastic! I had never heard of her before. I love hearing a super tight, well rehearsed band playing insanely complicated music. It reminds me of Return To Forever back in the 70s. I wish fusion had become more popular. Thanks for posting. Really great!
Weather Report was one of the first vinyls I ever bought. Return to Forever would soon follow. Share in your fusion sentiment, but also get how it didn’t reach mass appeal. Some things are somehow better when kept out of the mainstream tho, imo, if that makes any sense. And yes, I definitely see some Chick Corea in her playing 🤙
I was a bass player when Heavy Weather came out. I thought I was quite good, copying Stanley Clark solos note for note. When I first heard Teen Town and Havona, I got very depressed. Then I got busy. I pulled out my frets and started copying Jaco. I had the pleasure of seeing Weather Report three times. The third time, I met Jaco in person. He was one far out dude, and stoned to the bone. A few years later I saw him with his big band. Sadly, he was pretty far gone by then. When I read about the circumstances of his death, I wasn’t too surprised. The brightest flame burns the quickest. RIP, JFP.
She is an all-time favourite of mine … jazz genius! And pretty handy with classical repertoire too!
