Tone Stack Pro to a valve amp
Has anyone tried connecting a mono output from the sound card's output to a tube amp?
I'm using Loopy Pro and managing my guitar with Tone Stack Pro, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. They're connecting their processed guitar to a Fender Blues Junior-type tube amp.
Any advice on how to use Tone Stack Pro with this setup? I assume it's possible and will sound good.

I’d imagine if you’re going from Tonestack to an actual amp you can bypass having to use an amp emulation (and cab emulation if it’s a combo amp/you have your own speaker). So you’d just be using Tonestack for the effects processing. Don’t see why this wouldn’t work, but maybe I’m misunderstanding the question
No that´s the cuestion! T
o play at home and have a real sense of tubes. Then for live shows i will not use the amp just for home.
If you are sending the output to a tube amp, you will need to craft different settings than if sending to a P.A. — the settings are likely going to need to be quite different.
ok
Guitar amps have VERY different frequency and dynamic response than PAs. If you are planning on using a setup on-stage, you want your practice rig set up as similarly as possible. If you would be using the Blues Junior on stage, practice with that. Otherwise, practice with something as much like a PA as possible.
Would you need a reamp box for something like this?
That just isn't going to work well. The output from an audio interface is going to be line level. The amp is going to expect hi-z guitar level. The amp is going to impart lots of character as it's designed to do. Even if you can match the levels needed for the amp to work well, the tone stack presets are going to sound totally different through the amp than they will through a PA.
You will be better off practicing for the stage using headphones or speakers plugged into your audio interface. You may still have to tweak EQ of the PA or your preset a bit for it to sound good at the venue, but you'll be much closer than trying through the amp.
For having fun at home plug your guitar straight into your amp, but forget about setting up your tone for the stage with it if you're not going to use it on stage. You can try plugging the Blues Jr 1/4" output in to a line-in on your audio interface (disengage any hi-z or guitar input switch) if you want to record or hear yourself through the iPad. You probably won't want to use Tonestack on that as you're already getting tone from the amp.
Man, I envy you that Blues Jr. I have always wanted one!
You should be able to use a DI box in reverse for this, but should start with low gain from the interface rather than crank it up high to start. Can’t remember seeing this particular use before, but I know I have seen DI boxes reversed in studios to connect various outputs to guitar amps.
Like you said though, will need a lot of tweaking.
I was wondering if you could use a DI box in reverse but didn't say anything because I didn't know if that would work.
At any rate, as sweet as that amp is, it's only going to be a hindrance in trying to set up tones that work without it. If I had that one I'd be trying to find ways to use it whenever I can too, but it's best left out of the picture here. Or carted to the gig.
@yosoychema I like the Nembrini Faceman for tones in the ballpark of the Blues Junior. I find it much more responsive than the Tonestack amps. Nembrini amps go on sale somewhat regularly, so you may be able to save on it by waiting for a sale.
Haven’t gigged with a guitar in a long time, but if I do gig again I think my first choice now is an amp in a box solution rather than taking a guitar amp, as they are definitely viable for gigging now.
I have an NUX Amp Academy, which is incredibly versatile, and I would dare anyone to tell the difference between it and the real thing in a gig venue unless they have incredibly good ears for that sort of thing.
Oua, i buy the Nembrini Faceman 2 and it sound great!
I actually have a real fender bassman 59 reissue from the 90´s and if you have a good speaker for loopy pro it sound fantastic. Almost same sound!!
Any good fx recomendations for guitar fx appart of the Faceman? I have a blackhole reverb and also sound great! Probably i finish with my Tone stack pro and go to choosen fx like this Faceman!
Thanks
I’m absolutely blown away by RealPhase for modulation. And using TAIP lately for dirt/tape saturation. (Blackhole DOES sound great 👍)
I keep it very simple for guitar and I don't have a great ear anyway. Generally I just use Nembrini Analog Rack Reverb after the amp and Nembrini Clon Minotaur before it. It generally stays off except when I want boosted tones. I've never settled on a delay plugin. There are so many and I'm not very good at playing with delay anyway. Other Desert Cities is very inexpensive and has a huge range of delays to choose from. I put my delay between the amp and the reverb when I do use it.
btw, Rob Jackson's ANALOGyAMP came out since that last post. That has a sound in the ballpark of the Jr, plus built-in reverb, doubler, and tremolo. It's very low CPU and only costs $2.99 US, though I do need to combine it with his GtrEQ to get the sounds I'm looking for.
Nothing beats the FaceMan in my book, but sometimes just having something quick, light, and distraction free is nice. Everything I need for a quick noodle is right there with just those two plugins. I will say one thing for ANALOGyAMP - it does take pedals before the amp better than the FaceMan. It responds to boost more smoothly and realistically than other amp sims, including the FaceMan IMO.
Oh ... and the free Nembrini NA Tuner is super handy too.
