AI generated music starts to be serious

Anyone a bit worried about how advanced AI systems will manipulate humans on a large scale.
Some points I’ve been worrying about in no set order
at the point ai can write something like this, i quit play instruments and singing.
Awww yah, that is some pretty sweet chatter. But yah all we gotta do is send one super smart Grokbot to space and it will start mining planets and building nanobots and AI farms etc. Problem(s) solved!
Why ? There are probably hundreds of thousands people on Earth who are playing instruments and singing better than you - and you don’t see it as reason to quit.
Why is it different with AI ?
I am honestly failing to see why musicians feels threatened by AI - especially indie artists and people with music as hobby. Of course commercial music “producers” should feel threatened - but indie artists and hobbyists ?? No way .. AI reprezents zero threat to us.
Ahh a classic. Damn, I miss humanity.
Honestly can I ask you from which country you are ?
I spent fiirst 15 years of my life in communistic/socialistic dictature and I was VERY aware of how big mess it was. That’s why I am a bit triggered when is see somebody shit on capitalism and free market.
Communism/socialism was provent to be absolute shit ideology MULTIPLE times in multiple countries in recenr 100 years .. in general leftism is just anti-human ideology and leads to decline of civilisation - many many cases in history are proving that.
Capitalism and western type of democracy is not ideal bit ot is best thing we have.
Ironically 99% things leftists/socialists are criticizimg on democracy is caused by leftist politicians trying to twist and “fix” cspitalism and free market by all kinds of stupid regulations which are in fact cresting inequity and imbalances in society..
Nobody gave ma anything for free in my life, i’m from relatively poor family - all i have is result of my hard work and i have it JUST thanks to implosion of communism/socialism in my country and slow shift into capitalism/democracy.
Yah if that is all a person does with image AI. A simple two word prompt like that is the equivalent of buying a DAW, loading one of the demo projects, bouncing it out and saying you made it.
But if you take that demo project in that DAW and start shifting notes around, flipping through presets, tweaking values etc, adding tracks, randomizing patterns, changing the key and tempo, using various plugins, recording overdubs etc etc then it is like using an AI toolset like ControlNet in something like Forge WebUI, which combines prompting and image input mechanisms. Add 'image to image', 'inpainting' and 'outpainting', prompt weighting, negative prompts, LORA training etc and next thing you know, your AI imaging experience is just like digital audio production with a DAW. But yah if a person just gets a Midjourney sub and does two word prompts... lame.
Another trigger for aiphobes 😂
I actually like this one.. singing here is pretty pleasant to my eyes.
I must admit that while this is an accurate observation (all socialist/communist countries have failed in one way or another), I AM kinda touched by some of the assessments by Karl Marx etc., especially on the topic of "alienation" of humans from the results of their work.
Communist talking points do look good on paper, and I'm not entirely sure why they always seem to fail in reality. Interesting discussion for another thread maybe 😄 (but I need a nap first)
You are. Your post is exploding with irrational emotional statements, not with rational arguments. That's a textbook sign of feeling threatened on a subconscious level.
Also, I know for a fact that @dendy is DEFINITELY in a "musician league". And he can recursively confirm that I am, too 😄 (I hope)
come'n. you guys not playing any instument at a semi-pro level. i bet.
computer-musicans. unable to do a jam at a campfirelevel. thats why you upset.
nothing new in this forum.
and i keep saying: ai is getting serious.
for you guys. pianoroll mouseclick honks.
I'm just gonna butt in here and say...human nature...as you say, communism might look good on paper but we're just not wired for it...

There are plenty of systems between pure Marxism and pure free-market capitalism. The highest quality of life, economically, for the average person in the US and UK came when their governments actively worked to redistribute wealth in the decades after the Second World War (largely out of fear of a communist revolution, incidentally).
In recent decades, neoliberal policies favouring deregulation, privatization, and tax cuts for the wealthy have taken over, widening inequality and reducing overall life quality for ordinary people. This is not a good thing, if you’re an average person, as most people here are.
@dendy
I'm from and in Romania (Timisoara city).
I identify as an anarcho-socialist, deeply inspired by the thought and courage of Errico Malatesta.
And I totally get why you feel that way, if you actually lived under one of those so-called “socialist” regimes (I was too, I'm 50), that leaves a deep mark. What happened there wasn’t real socialism though, it was just another kind of authoritarian capitalism, with a party replacing private bosses. Ordinary people still had no real power.
When I criticize capitalism, I’m not wishing that back. I’m just saying that both systems, state communism and corporate capitalism end up concentrating power in a few hands and treating people like tools. I’m more interested in what comes after those binaries: communities, cooperatives, local autonomy, self-management; basically, people organizing together without bosses or bureaucrats.
I know what hard work means too, and I respect that completely. I just think most of what we call “individual success” also relies on a web of shared effort, generations of workers, teachers, farmers, public infrastructure, nature itself and a lot of luck. None of us do it alone.
So yeah, for me it’s not about left vs right, or capitalism vs communism, it’s about finding new ways to live and create together that don’t crush people or the planet. There are many paths forward, and we don’t have to stay trapped in that old damp Cold War cage.
@dendy @lasselu
calling for all tribals. lets met for a jamsession, i don't care where. lets do a poll.
only requirement: one instrument at a semi pro level.
please lets do that. world is at the edge of ww3.
resist!!!!!
Edit: whoopsie, poltics
Dibs on cowbell
Totally get your point! human nature isn’t utopian.
But what early communists (before the Bolsheviks turned it into bureaucracy)
actually wanted wasn’t to erase individuality, but to free it from domination of landlords, bosses, and capital.
Marx’s idea of communism was “the free development of each as the condition for the free development of all.”
The Bolsheviks killed that spirit fast - they replaced horizontal cooperation with top-down control.
So yeah, “human nature” matters, but it also adapts. Capitalism just teaches us to mistake ego for freedom.
that little illusion of autonomy while everything around us is structured for someone else’s profit.
Dendy is a very accomplished musician (or at least one hell of a hobbyist). His specialty seems to be Psytrance and Goa, whether he does it in Nanostudio 2, another app perhaps, or with his hardware set-up, or whatever else catches his fancy.

Seems to be the Dirtywave M8 currently.
However, his juvenile "another trigger for aiphobes" remark does make him come off as a talentless "AI bro" to the uninitiated. This thread does have a lot of good healthy debate in it, which is why I've been reading it. The thread also contains a lot of raw emotions on said topic, which is understandable.
My point is - one cannot judge another based on one juvenile remark and/or a person's attitude towards AI in general. For the record, I am against AI, but one must also practice critical thinking. Now if only I can remember to take my own advice. 😂
Too late. 😂 As I said above to EnvelopeFollower, this thread does have a good dose of healthy debate in it, so there is something of value to be gleaned from the myre.
The truth is, no system works forever once it hardens into dogma.
The moment you stop questioning who benefits and who gets left behind,
you’ve already started building someone else’s empire...
Being a musician or possessing musical competence has nothing to do with the ability to play a musical instrument. Your very attitude is precisely what demonstrates a LACK of actual musical understanding.
Emotions. Good proof that we are here mostly humans and not just AI bots. According to some. 😄
Btw thanks for introducing me but that’s not needed;) I couldn’t care less, i am just having fun here … This AI music is my guilty pleasure, I must admit that.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Btw this one ! My favourite for now. Really nice midern sounding synthwave. I can’t believe this is generated - now starting to be suspicious they are just prerending it’s AI.
Emotions do have their place for sure.
Like when staring into your spouse's eyes and you tell her how much you love her. ❤️
Some of Taylor Swift's music is a guilty pleasure for me. 🫣 I like her latest album. Many could consider that to be slop, so I understand what you mean. One person's slop is another's treasure.
I'm happy to introduce you here. Your real non-AI music speaks for itself.
How is the M8 treating you these days?
Well, currently real threat is Anbernic handheld gaming console I bought recently with thousands of nintendo/gameboy/mame/atari/super famicon/sega/psp/psx games from 80’s and 90’s and I am playing all that stuff I played as kid - maximum nostalgia - and killing with it literally all free time I have 🤣🤣
