Baby Audio Transit 2
Hey everyone, just a quick note that Transit 2 iOS is very close to being ready for release. Thanks for all your patience, I know this one took longer than first anticipated.
This will be a full port of the desktop version and we're excited to get it out there.
I'm sharing the below information in advance because we've been working on finding the best / most fair distribution model for Transit 2.
Part of our goal with sharing the below is to ensure clarity around the upgrade model AND to get feedback from everyone. If we've missed anything we want to know before we go live.
Here's where we landed:
* For our desktop releases, we have the ability to let V1 owners upgrade to V2 at a discounted price. (For Transit this was $29).
* The App store, doesn't allow for upgrade paths like that -- at least not in any direct sense.
* Therefore, we're going to create an upgrade path that we'll just make available to everyone, whether they own V1 or not. This will be in the form of releasing V2 as a new App and pricing it for a limited time at the same price point we'd have charged if we were able to create an upgrade path for existing users.
* The "upgrade price point" (in reality an intro sale) will be $9.99. The regular price for Transit 2 after this sale ends will be $29.99.
* For current V1 owners this model will offer a fair upgrade price to V2.
* For non-V1 owners... Well I guess you're just lucky ![]()
Timeline:
* We plan on releasing Transit 2 in early November and will run the intro-sale/upgrade path for a month. We understand that there'll be V1 owners who are not able to upgrade - or miss the offer - and for this reason, we're open to running a time limited $9.99 sale again next year for those users.
What happens with V1:
* You are NOT forced to upgrade if you're happy with V1. We will continue to offer V1 for sale and support it after the release of V2.
* At some point we are planning to retire V1 for sale to new users but existing users can continue to use it on devices where it's installed. At the earliest, V1 will be retired for sale to new users 6 months after the V2 release so we're not cutting it off anytime soon. And we're willing to listen to feedback from the community here (and adjust our plans) if you have any strong concerns about this.
Why not just make Transit 2 a free update of the V1 App:
* We have to balance our policies between desktop and iOS and not overly favorize one platform. Desktop users were presented with a fair upgrade path of $29 and iOS users are presented with a cost a third of that at $9.99. We feel this keeps things consistent with the generally lower price points on iOS.
* Also, we're a business and we never pretend otherwise. The best products demand the best developers and none of that works without monetization.
* Finally, for technical reasons it wouldn't even be feasible: If we overwrite V1 with V2 then existing sessions using V1 will be broken (as V2 uses a different architecture). So it is not technically possible to make a straight "overwrite" update that would just replace V1 in previous sessions/productions. V2 needs to be its own release.
We hope you'll enjoy Transit 2 and that the above gives you some clarity on the model we've chosen. And we'd appreciate any feedback from the community before we put it out there.
Release date to follow shortly. Transit 2 is looking great and we hope you'll enjoy it!

This is outrageous… ly generous, thank you!
Any info about the release date of Tekno?
Can't speak for v1 owners but a thumbs up from me, It's the price point for things I do not need (got turnado + other FX) but wouldn't mind having anyway. Unlike some I've got at that price point I expect to actually use it. :-)
@BabyAudio v1 ios owner here, that release model seems more than fair to me. I’ve watched the huang demo a bunch and feel if you had released transit 2 as an upgrade to v1 there’s enough additional content that I wouldn’t mind paying 9.99 for it (surely not 29.99). And ya, non owners of v1 will be lucky indeed haha! Good on ya, BA! Can’t wait 🤙
Instabuy for me!
That's really cool of you all. As a V1 owner, I certainly appreciate the pricing plan.
I also appreciate the fact you took time to explain it all out. I personally wasn't in need of an explanation, but I do appreciate the effort, and foresight to do it anyways. Looking forward to November.
I think Fugue did an “upgrade plan” via a bundle. I don’t remember how it works, but the bundle ended up being close to an upgrade cost.
However, I’m not complaining. I don’t have v1 so hopefully I can spare $10 for v2 (though having a newborn means a tight budget right now).
a good excuse to buy baby audio stuff;)
Not complaining about your proposed solution. It is very generous.
The bundle would be a good solution to have the V2 always reduced for owner of V1.
Please tell me the snap to zero considered but not implemented for 1 is present in 2.
What size is the font? 🕺
Thanks for this! $9.99 for Transit 2 is a crazy good deal. I'm using Transit 2 on my laptop and I think v2 is a super update to an already cool plugin.
I’m in.
Transit is one of the most useful plugins out for someone like me that doesn’t have time or energy to spend on creating interesting transitions lol.
Woop!
This is the way.
Only a tenner for the intro price? I'm in!
I'm curious why a V1 / V2 bundle strategy wasn't chosen. Complete My Bundle for V1 owners at $9.99, V2 price alone $29.99. It seems to me like you're depriving yourself of $20 per unit during the sale period(s).
I'm only mentioning it in case bundle pricing isn't something you know is available.
There’s no way to guarantee a fixed $9.99 bundle update price for V1 owners in case there was a sale at some point in time.
I’m aware of that, but it can still be a viable option for developers.
Conversely you could say they would deprive themselves of many more sales at that price, with each extra sale costing $0 to make, it is possible they would make less overall. Most people that want/need this will already have v1, those that don't will be unlikely to buy v2 at full price. It is surplus to my requirements, I wouldn't buy it at 30 or 20, at 10 definitely will, 15 I'd think about it. Another factor is goodwill leading to sales of other BA apps?
IOS hobbyist ecosystem is quite strange really. I know I have spent far, far more* overall because of cheap sales/FOMO/supporting developers than I would if all apps were their full price. If they were higher priced I would likely have 20-30 apps instead of the hundreds I do, probably get more more done as well....;-)
*In retrospect a decent spec Macbook/logicpro/Final cut/a few paid/free programs would have been a better choice for the money though the lump sum would be more noticeable than hundreds of little bites.
I have v1 and I’ll likely be grabbing v2 on intro sale 👍
I love Transit and can't wait for the upgrade. The intro price/upgrade model is more than fair.
I don’t have v1, and wouldn’t have even looked at v2 at the full price, as I already have a ridiculous amount of fx apps - including Turnado, which has a similar vibe.
But for a tenner I’m in, and it’s meant I’ve checked out the vids, and so impressed I’ll wait for a sale on the desktop version as well.
Looking forward to this one.
I agree @deadpoetlive. @wim, ‘depriving themselves of $20 per unit’ assumes that everyone who doesn’t have V1 who would buy at $10 would still buy at $30. I suspect that’s not the case. I’m another who would buy at $10 but not otherwise.
Can’t wait for this. Transit looks like a great companion for my M8, and I’ve held off buying v1 because I hoped v2 was on the way.
Same for me! I also use it just to create movement with some shallow depth lfo. So much variety!
I use Transit on multiple tracks in pretty much every project, genuine lifesaver for helping to finish songs with polished transitions, there’s so many amazing presets in there.
Pumped for V2 on iPad, thanks BA! 🙏
This is a generous pricing strategy on the kind of creative apps I love and use a lot, and as a result I’m definitely in, but might not have been otherwise, as I already have Turnado and a bunch of others.> @Robin2 said:
+1
I've been waiting for Transit 2. I didn't buy v1, but held out for this new version because the automations look very very sweet.
The pricing model was wisely chosen - benefits to both user and dev.
