Anyone used this? ‘Envion: a free, open, algorithmic drum composition environment in Pd’

  • Yep, it’s very very cool. Download free Plugdata app, then grab envion.
    Put your own samples in the “audio” folder that comes with the envion package and then load them within envion. Sit back and listen to some incredible sounds. Highly recommended.
    Disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea what’s going on, or how pd works…

    Great cheers - a project for this weekend then!

  • Beautiful stuff! thanks for sharing! :smile:

  • Tried on and off all day yesterday to get this working and FINALLY GOT SOUND. For those it might help, make sure the envion folder you download off GitHub goes in the plugdata folder (not Patches, the PD folder itself).
    Gnarly app/project, couldn’t begin to explain what’s going on but having a blast trying out different field recordings run through it haha

    Yeah, I think that's what attracted it to me - I've got a few Make Noise modules on my shopping wish-list!

    Ah good to know, haven't tried it yet as tied up with family stuff, but will hopefully have a go tomorrow.

  • This is so cool, gotta give it a try! Looks like ancient alien technology

    Thanks. You have cured me of any temptation I may have had to try LSD some day.

    I wouldn’t recommend it. I outsource my audio hallucinations via things like this, these days - much easier to turn things off when they get a bit too scary.

  • Anyone have any luck hosting this one in AUM? I can load it in but it freezes up after loading and can’t interact with it. I see on the GitHub description that the iPad version is limited compared to desktop, so is using it in a host just unsupported? Standalone only? (I wanna mangle it with auv3, have been screenrecording and exporting but it’s a pain)

    @rototom
    Saw that and fiddled with it a little but couldn’t get it to work. I’ll be honest, ALL OF THIS THING is over my head, but I’m having fun fumbling around it haha. I’ll make figuring that thing out my goal for the day 👍
