If you "only" have stage, like I do it's seem nothing much changes. They claim better sound but the short comparison I did with Bluthner I can't here a difference. The keys are more yellow on 9, should I pay a good SEK300 (around USD25) for that, feels a bit heavy for so little.
Like to hear others thoughts...
I had the chance to play, tweak, compare and use Pianoteq 9 in Logic projects on desktop and I have to say it’s a big step forward into realism. With Pianoteq 8 I still noticed some metallic overtones here and there but that seems to be mostly gone in v9 (at least to my ears). I do tweak the settings and mic positions a little and also enjoy using felt.
The difference might sound subtle but is very noticeable when playing/using in arrangements.
I’d pay the 30€ upgrade price for v9 again.
PS: Have been using Pianoteq since v3 in 2013. I really enjoy seeing it evolving with every version upgrade.
PPS: Oh and I feel like the Blüthner didn‘t receive as much treatment as the Model D NY for example. That one and the newer models seem to be the devs priority. The Blüthner is probably a bit too old to receive the same attention. It’s a shame as it’s also the only one that I purchased outside of the standard package.
I recently bought the electric piano pack through your affiliate link. Hope that went through and hope it helps. That’s great to morph with and a great sound. Pianoteq is 10/10 for me and a default on most projects I set up.
I did try the update path but it did not work here ?
I have Pro 8 version at moment but not sure that the 25GBP update gets me Pro 9? Also wonder if you need to re-purchase all the instruments again? Its a bit vague

This is a bit of an odd one for me. Normally I would buy an upgrade ( I’m on 8) in a heart beat.
I listen to the demos of 9 and they sound great and then I listen to 8 on my machines and it still sounds fantastic and I’m wondering why I need the upgrade.
The changelist has a number of usability features for iOS in addition to the global ability to tweak a couple more parameters and the changes some of the instruments received:

Stage gets a couple of new features:
-Pianoteq STAGE users can now access the Mics & Mix panel and modify mixer settings.
I can't say very much for the sound yet. I like how the Steinway D pianos play. It seems they tweaked the presets a little, so it's hard to say what is the result of changes in the physical model and what is the result of a different velocity curve or mic placement.
The CP80 feels like a more unique instrument now. I don't know if it's "better" or closer to the original, but it's a very different sound from the other instruments now.
Pianoteq v9 is awesome. Trying out the demo - it plays really smooth, even on my older ipad. Its shows as a $29 upgrade here in the US (I have v8 STAGE) I’ve decided to skip the upgrade for now, the sound difference between v8 and v9 is a just little too subtle on the pianos presets I use to spend the money right now (and my bills right now are NOT subtle
). May upgrade to v9 after Christmas if my relatives come through with their usual itunes gift cards.

Just updated to 9 from 8, pretty fortunate that I got it 11 months ago so the update was free. After much messing to register, could only enter first letter of my email or code, found out the problem was trying to enter it with magic keyboard iPad 13 M1, soon as I detached keyboard and used screen entry it worked first time.
Not sure if is a glitch or what but if anyone else has that problem it might save you some time.
I'm no expert on the CP80 but certainly an aficionado, and the new version sounds like a great improvement to me. I think it's even the update I've been most excited for. Loving the triple harp as well though - that was a real surprise addition.

Yes it does.
Yes. The iOS app will guide you through - it involves logging into your Mordartt account within the iOS app, and this should pick up your license key, or there's manual key pasting option as well. I did this last night after purchasing on the website and it's fairly hassle free and I'm all set up now.

Define instrument. Example, when you “pick two instruments” for the Stage license, is it two packs? Or just two different presets?
Two complete instrument packs. As part of my Stage license I have the Steinway D and Kawai K2 instrument packs i.e. every preset within each of those packs. In fact Steinway D has a Hamburg and a New York variant, and I have all the presets for each variant.
Thanks for the clarification. So, I cannot simply buy an instrument pack and play it without a license? And Stage, Standard, or Pro is the license?

They also describe Stage as the basic version, so why come is Standard cheaper?
In lieu of further more and to add to, it seems classical guitar cannot be strummed.
I cannot tell if it’s because of the Demo limitation, an overlooked Geoshred setting, or because if back in the day if you strummed your classical guitar, the King would strap you to a guillotine for the entire square to witness your head roll and bounce along the cobblestone?
I assume it may have to do with the sympathetic resonance modeling thing they mention?
I’m tempted to pick this up, but the price is so high that it’s hard to justify.
I know Pianoteq is easier on cpu than pretty much everything, I would use it live and for recording with, I know I’d get a lot of value from it. But the price for just two instruments is totally crazy to me.
