Song Of The Month Club - October 2025
What is the Song of the Month Club?
It's a place where musicians come to give and receive feedback on their work. Anyone is welcome, whatever their level of ability.
The spirit of the club is to contribute: if you submit a song for others to comment on, you should also have the courtesy to listen to everyone else's contributions and give as much feedback as possible. Posting a track and not listening and commenting on others is not cool.
The purpose of feedback is to be honest. Essentially you should give your truthful impressions of the song, whether good or bad. Negative feedback, if done in the right spirit and with courtesy, can be the most useful and can help the artist to grow.
All submissions are welcome, don't hesitate if you want to contribute. We like all kinds of music and we are particularly fond of vocals (but of course we still love a great instrumental). If you are thinking of experimenting with vocals this is a good place to get started.
We ask that you only post one song per month in this thread - if you're lucky enough to be able to produce more, then please just submit your strongest material
And finally, iOS is not a requirement for posting here. If you've recorded your song using nothing but a ukulele and a Fostex 4 track, that's fine.

My entry for the month, it's a re-working of a song I wrote a few months back, with new verse lyrics and melody. Lyrics in the spoiler:

Oooh I like. It evokes ‘Just like Honey’ with a touch of ‘She bangs the drums’. I love that reverb soaked jangly sound of mid/late 80s indie. The soundscape is very cool. Very wet and lush.
The production is really good on this one too, the vocals in the chorus sound ace and brill. And other 80s superlatives. :-)
I still can’t work out how you manage to write a song with a killer chorus every month!

This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to Bitwig Studio on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Solo for the violin, cello, and viola; Noire for the piano; Vital Series: Mallets for the marimba and vibraphone; Pianoteq for the harp; and Omnisphere and Continua for the background instruments.
After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.
It's titled Water's Edge.

Very good song @richardyot. I agree with a lot of what @klownshed wrote, particularly the reverbs - I love the way your vocals in the chorus have taken on a more synth sound than a voice. Not sure what the lyrics are about, could be a relationship or politics or ... . Very catchy, anyway.
It was very pleasant relaxing at the Water's Edge @DavidEnglish, I could stay there much longer. With good visuals once again - although at around 7:30 it got stuck on what looked like a bat which stared at me for a little too long.

The guitar playing is exquisite, really beautiful layered performances that I really enjoyed listening to. The harmonics were an excellent touch, but all of the playing was outstanding.
The call and response between the piano and the strings is nicely executed. Another otherworldly evolving soundscape.
Here is my entry for this month.
It's a collage of different parts all held together by the brass instrument lead, lots of zigging and zagging in a pretty wild arrangement, but then the brass part comes back in to hold it all together. Lots of invention here, and lots of fun details.
