IK Multimedia Servers Down for Several Days
The IK Product Manager cannot connect to Internet. It has been like this for several days. I have tested on multiple computers with different versions of macOS.
My internet connection is fine. I just used it to update apps using the Native Instruments, UVI, Arturia, and Universal Audio product manager apps. It is ONLY IK that is exhibiting this problem.
Also the IK website is extremely sluggish and frequently times out. I was unable to connect at all last night. Today it was barely functional but only after refreshing frequently. I tried to contact them via support on their website. It took two tries. I'm still not sure it went through.
Anybody else seeing this?

IK servers have been getting hammered by the traffic generated by their Group Buy offer for a while now so I expect it’s just related to that.
When does the Group Buy end? I've done the group buy in the past. It is a good deal. But never had sever issues like this!
I tried at 4am ET this morning and it was down even then, which I find a bit sus. I wonder if they would deliberately ddos attack their own website?
Ends today, I think, but then up to 30 days for folk to claim their free apps.
There’s no chance this is deliberate on IK’s part.
No way. These sort of attacks are brutal and increasingly hard to defend against. (
It’s been working the past few hours for me ok.
I just tried it now and it worked for me. I had intermittent problems yesterday in the morning, I would expect due to the load on the systems as people grab this at the very last minute, so I kept on trying and eventually got in and got the deal. I also saw that there was an update on the IK site yesterday that they had updated the IK Product Manager app to address some recent issues, so make sure you're running the most recent version.
Did it ever reach the 50 free products level in the past? I can’t help but feel this might be their Red Lobster all-you-can-eat shrimp fest moment that bankrupted the company. I mean they're making a lot in sales right now, but at the expense of potential future purchases.
There’s also the fact that PluginBoutique had Amplitube on sale for $30 but it qualified in the group buy. I think it’s normally in the $200 range so people cashing that sale in last minute I could see flooding the servers.
There’s also a humble bundle IK sale that ended yesterday.
I registered an iRig Blueboard that I bought several years ago and had never registered with them. That qualified me for the group buy without realizing… I also bought the Amplitube on sale.
Anyway I was in a rush to pick up the freebies after the website started working again, and ended up making some poor choices, like: buying a bunch of Sampletank instruments when I have no intention of installing Sampletank, buying several unneeded cross grades and upgrades when I already had the full version (they were not clearly marked such as “Pro upgrade”, “Pro", etc.). No biggie - I got plenty of other good stuff that I’ll never use.
I've been trying for two days. I can get to the main homepage, but cannot get anywhere else. Managed to grab the windows exe off my android on one random successful attempt
But zero luck otherwise from iPad, android phone, wife's phone, or wife's surface pro
Im glad to have found this thread tho, so I'm not completely insane (just mostly)
I have a fast connection, but it's clear their servers are completely swamped. Clicking on anything is a trial of patience.
Maybe related to their previous policy of charging people to redownload their previous purchases? I believe they justified that by saying that servers are expensive, so perhaps they only have enough capacity for regular traffic and server resources are now heavily over utilized?
If I recall correctly, they reversed that policy.
I've purchased several IK AUV3 plugins for $50-$100 or more over the years, only for them to remove and resubmit the app store listing for most of them, then refusing to honor our prior expensive purchases. (Syntronik + all expansions, Mixbox, and at least one or two others) ... Customer service was rude and dismissive when I politely brought it up to them, so I'm never touching an IK product again as long as I live.
I think they did too. But at the time their first group buy about 3 or for years ago. You could download the software for free but the libraries, you had only one download or was it a set time period. I can’t remember.
They eventually did reverse it, but my thought was more about their apparent reticence to spend money on upgrading their servers.
if they're still running their own servers they're fools. Cloud based infrastructure is designed for dynamic load allocation and dealing with peaks like this without having to invest in additional servers. 🙄
I don’t know if they ever clarified that in the past - I just remember them justifying their previous policy with cost of servers.
But you’re right - if they host things themselves, that’s not the best option at all, and hasn’t been for many years.
