Loosing connection between apps
This is driving me insane,
I’m using JustChords and triggering ziBassist with it which occasionally I can get to work, but if I leave Loopy Pro, it usually no longer works. I have saved the project and all the settings are the same on the two apps, but they no longer communicate.
Any hints to why this is happening or how to cure it?

Have you turned on Play in Background in the Loopy Pro System Settings panel?
Are you using those apps as AUv3 or IAA?
Yes that’s turned on and yes they are AUv3 versions.
I suggest that you use a midi monitor (such as Show Midi) to check that the midi you think is being sent is being sent. Also make sure the plugins aren’t idling.
Without seeing a demonstration and how you have things routed , it is hard to know what might be going on.

Another interesting point though, I tried running JustChords into Piano Motifs (an auv3 arpeggiator style plugin) and ran that to both Decent Sampler and iBassist and got a signal through to iBassist. (all using loopy pro as the host). Because it’s not just passing the chords, iBassist was playing really odd chords but interesting that it worked.

Can you post still screenshots of the JustChords midi settings and the destination settings for iBassist?
Also, add a midi monitor such as ShowMidi. Add it as a destination so that you can see what is being sent.
As I mentioned, other plugins like Numa player, Decent Sampler, etc are getting the chords no problem.
It doesn't seem to be a matter of getting the chords. It seems like an iBassist issue. But I don't know iBassist well enough to advise.
@NeilSpeers : one way to determine if the midi is being sent is to use something else besides iBassist to receive the MIDI from cable 2
@filo01 : Any ideas? I don't know iBassist and couldn't get chord detection working with justchords in either LP or AUM
Sorry guys, I don't have enough time to dive this weekend, I can look into it on Monday.
What I briefly found:
My test LP project with JC and iBassist has the same issue. But I don't think it is iBassist fault - chords are recognized correctly when I send them from Tonality chord pads. And also latest version of iBassist is from 2024, so I guess the problem is in JustChords. Development of this app is very fast so it could happened.
Odd that it JustChords sends fine to other apps, and if I set iBassist to Sound Module - which I gather is for using with midi files - it plays the chords that way. And I did try setting iBassist to receive on channel 2 but didn’t help.
My thought is that it’s in the code for the bass patterns. But that’s just a guess.
I know @danm did a lot of work with JustChords and iBassist. I wonder if he has any input?
FILO did a video on this very configuration. If he says it isn't working as he expects, I am inclined to believe him.
I just took a look in a midi monitor and I am seeing no note offs from JustChords in both AUM and Loopy Pro.
Your are right about note off. I found that the first chord sent by JC is accepted by the iBassist app. iBassist had a C chord in the progression, and my song had Bmi as the first chord. The iBassist app accepted Bmi when I started playback in Loopy, but it didn't accept the other chord changes. It looks like this is a JC bug. I reported it to dev on JC discord channel.
It also looks like if you have anticipation off for MIDI 1 and on for MIDI 2, MIDI 1 actually uses anticipation.
filo and I have communicated the issue to the JustChords developer and he will look into the issue and test it. Apparently there were some recent changes to the MIDI engine.
It is now fixed in Just Chords 9.11 Build 91101. Thank you @espiegel123 for your help.
