Discovering Éliane Radigue right now. This is fabulous. Thanks for the discovery!
squarepusher! bro-
Concur. Time to put on Nihl.
Some great mentions in this thread. Aphex Twin is the final boss for me.
One of the most respected labels in electronic music is Ninja Tune, and I recommend checking out their artists. You can check the list here.
Some have been mentioned already, like Amon Tobin, one of my favourites. His soundtrack for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a top 5 electronic album for me.
Floating Points is newer to me but absolutely sparkling.
Nils Frahm does modular stuff that actually blows me away.
Then you’ve got more hip-hop/sample adjacent stuff like Flying Lotus, this is my favourite of his:
Another Ninja Tune legend, Bonobo, just a master of the downtempo groove:
I’m not super keen on Four Tet’s newer DJ stuff, but his albums are all solid gold. This is probably the defining one:
Caribou… nowadays known by his real name Dan Snaith, or as Daphne—another guy who went into DJing and lost his mojo a bit, in my opinion. His middle albums like Andorra and Swim are amazing, but his early stuff is my favourite.
And of course… the master. My personal favourite of his.
Aww yah, Jesper Kyd (who collabed with Amon Tobin on Splinter Cell) does some great scores too. Love his Warhammer 40k stuff!
Ryoji Ikeda
People posting early FlyLo and fourtet brought back memories of loving these two artists.
