What apps do you have and use across multiple platforms?
What apps have been so good or integral to your musical production that you grabbed them on more than one platform?
I use Ambiente all the time on iPad and the Mac version is on sale for Black November - getting that on Mac will mean easier IDAM workflow since audio is one way from iPad to Mac. I might grab Variflute since it’s still on sale at the $40 intro price and it’s becoming a staple on iPad.
Some others:
Pianoteq is lightweight and sounds great on both platforms.
I have a lot of Aurora DSP effects across both systems.
I got GeoShred Studio on Mac but I tend to use the iOS version and just route the audio over. I’ve had no desire to grab any of the IAPs on Mac for that reason.
Motto Akemie
Bleass SampleWiz 2 and some other BLEASS fx (Dragonfly gets used a lot between the two)
Synthmaster 2 (well, 3 on Mac)
ToneX (and Amplitube but not used as much)
MIDI Guitar 2/3
Most Moog fx (MF Filter, MuRF, ClusterFlux and Saturator)
Eventually I’d like to get OneShot on Mac - definitely seems more geared towards Desktop for editing and building kits.
KORG Gadget on Switch and iOS - fun to work on songs on Switch and transfer to iPad. Especially with Switch multiplayer.

eventide, i got blackhole on mac, ipad and in pedal form. gotta collect em al
Blackhole is one of my favorite iOS reverbs. I thought about grabbing it on Mac but I need to figure out Comet by Polyverse first. Seemed a bit of overlap between the two for that pristine reverb sound.
you should try Blackhole Immersive then
oh, well forgot I also got Blackhole Immersive on Mac. Kill me
Speaking as a user / music creator, although this does stray a little into shameless self-promotion
, I thought it might be interesting.
I flip between iPad and my Mac a lot when working on music projects. I might sketch something out in GB on the iPad, then work on it properly in Logic on the Mac. When playing live, I use the tracks created in Logic in AUM, plus any other plugins I need for any live tracks - guitar, vocals etc.
Because of this flipping from ideas to projects to live, and because I actually use all my own plugins
, it was important for me to support both platforms so all the new stuff from 2025 works on iOS and macOS, including Intel, not just Silicon. They're also "universal purchases" too, so whichever platform you buy on, you effectively own the other.
If I wasn't able to work like this, I don't think I'd be doing any music making at all, so yeah, pretty integral!
Yeah, if I could stand to use my MacBook for making music, I'd be all over @Rob_Jackson_Music 's plugins for that. 👍🏼
Sonofield ear training app is good on both Mac and iOS.
Moog Model 15, Model D
Korg Wavestation
Sugar Bytes Aparillo
Waldorf Nave
ID700
Eventide effects
IK Mixbox
FabFilter effects
Probably a bunch more….
