I arrived at some random preset in Velvet that is the most realistic space I’ve found in a reverb. I know, that’s totally not the intended use of Velvet Machine, but it blew me away how realistic it sounded, just like being in a room.

Would be interested to hear. Any chance of a screenshot when you get a chance? Thanks

Nothing special about it. But sounds really good to my ears, I suck at reverbs but this sounded just right.

No expert either but like stuff you post so thought it would be worth checking out. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Have saved settings and will give it a test on speakers tomorrow. 👍🏻

  • I wish I could load my own impulse responses because I like the envelope feature.

Lovely! It's a beautiful reverb, and a great creative sound design tool.

Ab vortex x can get into similar spaces but nothing quite like Velvet Machine really.

@Gavinski suggested Ab vortex x and Ab vortex when I was looking for something to blur sounds. I've put both on my wishlist for future purchases, along with MagicBlur.

Here’s a batch of presets for anyone interested. @andowrites

Are these presets compatible with both desktop and iOS versions of Velvet Machine?

Should be - I've swapped presets between the 2 versions...

Yes, I imported them to desktop Velvet Machine last night, all working no issues.

I might check it out on iOS first, as it's far more costly on desktop, although with additional features.

I don't think there are any features in the desktop version that aren't in the iOS one and there's a demo version available...

Andō is talking about AB Vortex X, I think, whose desktop version is much more feature-rich

Feel free to DJ me a reverb-dry audio file you’d like to hear the iOS version on and I’ll let you hear what it sounds like through ab vortex x

That's okay, I speak typo and autospell, as well as English.

  • Anyone compare this effect with Phonolyth Cascade? Are they the same?

They’re different, but I prefer Cascade now.

  • @Tones4Christ said:

Very different and I’m a big fan of both. Cascade is a great reverb, VM is something else. It’s more of a granular effect. Love using it on strings at low density. And the way you can shape it makes it unique as well.

  • How could something beat it at what it does. Then it wouldn't be doing what it does. Huh?

  • good news...:)
Velvet Machine 2 is in works.
    more controll etc...

  • If I want creamy I use velvet machine, if I want dreamy - black hole, if I want shimmer - alteza, if I want stars - stellar…

Honestly Rymdegaire probably comes closest to velvet machine but has of course its own character with more noise feedback a grit. Look up @Pxlhg excellent presets in side the app.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • @offbrands
    its slowly "in works"
    will be a separate app.
but it won't come this year so...
    get v1.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Cascade, from the same dev is my goto fx for a lot of stuff, never tried Velvet.

Oh cool, towards the end of the initial beta I was pushing just for visual cues to help draw tempo based patterns, I can’t help wonder what he’s got in mind…

  • What I really want is the long life of this irreplaceable FX. What more could anyone want than what Velvet already has? Deprecating the current version in favor of the new one with a few unwanted features would be a tragic outcome.

Why the App Store won't allow simple paid version updates is beyond my imagination. BTW, I’m not blaming the developers. 😔

    Great!
Anything new from Yuri Turov and I’m excited.

Cascade is excellent and on par with Velvet Machine

The new Audio Damage Ascend app is decent too. Not as much control as the other two, but has a couple unique features and well worth the current launch $2.99
