AudioModern have said at least once that they don’t discount their apps on principle as they're already cheap, so this is a very rare opportunity indeed!
That is the reason it didn't make my list as well. Same with Samplr and a few others. Great they may be, but multiple windows is going to get in the way of my flow.
Which is fine. Anything to narrow down the options ...

I believe the UI scales parametrically in one window, so probably extremely tiny on iPhone (though I appreciate devs who allow it, great for project cross-compatibility without having to bounce).

For consistency I think universal alone should be taken to mean the way Apple currently means it on the App Store: "iPhone + iPad".

WoodSynth is deep (with deeper discounts before if you're on a tighter budget).
WoodValvet people seem to love also (and it's cheaper than AudioThing Valves).
Note: Woodman's UI's can be daunting, but they've got manuals, the elements are thoughtfully arranged (IMO), and they offer a surprisingly wide range of control. All the audio plugs sound really great. Haven't tried the MIDI plugs yet. Mac demos for all on https://wimsstudio.com/download/.
I don’t have Riffer or Chordjam, but the UI of Audiomodern’s Panflow and Filterstep is quite challenging on an iPhone for my 56 y.o. eyes. The text and icons are tiny and just a few shades lighter than the background. I didn’t get much use out of them until I got my iPad and could see clearly. Now that I know what the text says and the controls do I can use them on my phone as well.
Anyway, that aside, they’re great tools. My most common use of Panflow is as a MIDI controller.
I have Gatelab on my iPad (unfortunately, the free version is no longer available to download onto my iPhone) and am now trying to decide if it’s sufficient for my needs and realistic amount of use (probably) or if I should spring for Gatelab2.
Well THAT sounds rad, haha!

Have to put in a word for Woodpeckr- immensely capable with a UI that’s not nearly as baffling as some of his other apps. Very easy to use, actually.
And Woodverberator- the very best of the convolution reverbs, IMHO.
And Woodvalvet, as someone mentioned earlier.
Woodsynth is deep and sounds great, but requires a bit of work.

Lol. Yea, i like universal and universal+, that could work, but we have to spread the word, promulgate the terminology, if you will, Lol.
Yea it’s a bit odd, cause traditionally it meant, iphone & ipad. So out of curiosity i did a quick search and discovered the change that allowed iPhone/iPad apps to also be available on Mac was introduced in November 2020. It then took some time for more and more apps to integrate this ability. So its only been an understandable point of confusion for maybe a few years, but it still trips me up.
