"Deadline" (EDM song done in Auxy Studio ft My Girlfriend)

This is a reimagining of an older song from a few years back. Some of the OGs here may remember it, and if not, here's the better version with better production values and my girlfriend Anjalea on the vocals. ❤️ I only made one alteration to the lyrics. "Full of shit" became "full of it", lol. 😂

I made the instrumental entirely in Auxy Studio (check this out @lenberg ), my girlfriend recorded her vocals in Bandlab, I cleaned them up and processed them in Cubasis 3 (I used autotune this time since I used autotune in my original version lol). Then I recorded my backing vocals which were vocoded with Dervoco. (Seriously, my favourite vocoder on iOS. Thanks @giku_beepstreet !)

I'm not sure where my musical adventures will take me next, but stay tuned (bad pun lol) to find out.

  • Just a bump. ❤️

  • Okay, I figured one more bump wouldn't hurt. I'm rather proud of this one since it features my girlfriend. <3

  • That was really well put together … it’s a shame Dervoco doesn’t work properly in GarageBand cause this gave me ideas …of course I could just use humanoid…

Thank you. :) Glad someone could take the time to comment.

Humanoid may work. I haven't tried that myself yet though despite having purchased it.

Same. The UI is quite tiny and that’s been preventing me from doing more with it

    Giggity

    Lol! 😂

  • Hi Jim. I was going to comment sooner, but we went out to the movies this afternoon. We saw something called Rental Family. It’s a chick flick. I’m okay with those. They make her cry… and I usually get lucky afterwards. If your lady comes to town for the holidays, I recommend it. I like the big, wide sound of this track. The auto tune is very musical and works like a charm. I don’t usually like that stuff, but you and your girl nailed it. Peace out!

Mwahaha! 😂 I'll probably have to check that movie out whether she comes to town or not. Sounds like a good movie to be fair.

Thanks man! I appreciate that so much. I will say, I do like that autotuned sound a lot. For me, it's an effect, not a corrective means to an end. (I actually don't like when autotune is used as a corrective measure, lol. Producers try to make it subtle, but autotune is never subtle in the least, lol. I prefer it be used to make a voice sound "alien" rather than "in perfect pitch".)

See, you're talking to a 90s kid who grew up listening to music acts like Eiffel 65. Though released in late 1998, I first heard "Blue" at a church festival in Summer of 99. I was blown away by "that alien sound" on Jeffrey's voice. I knew I wanted to make that a part of my "signature sound" a few years before T-Pain made it his "signature sound" in 2005. In short - this is a core memory from the days before I started trying to produce my first tracks.

Of course another favourite "alien" effect I like to put on vocals is classic vocoding. Of course I loved (and still love) Daft Punk. Think "Around the World" and other great hits they made. And to avoid having to record my voice over and over for my backing vocals, I used Dervoco and used Cubasis 3's Micrologue as the carrier.
