Comrades, since our team is small and the number of questions keeps growing, I tried adding an AI assistant. It knows the Cellular documentation, my social media with tutorial and guide playlists, the support email, and it should even help with filing a bug report if one comes up. For now its answers might be a bit rough, but we plan to test it thoroughly and refine it into a truly useful tool.
@ValeryMironov

Hey! Why do I get this shit when I try to press play, I'm still on subscription, till the 11th. Not good my man, not good at all! ☹️ Happens in both Aum, Cubasis and stand alone.
Okay, so I managed to get rid of it by subscribing again (and cancel again). That big 'SUPPORT THIS APP' button should go away if I buy the app - does it!? It's bad enough to have it there when already paying for subscribing.
Hi. Did you buy it directly in AUv3 mode or in standalone? You may need to press Restore button.
I checked this on my side. On the first launch in AUM it may indeed be necessary to press Restore, but afterwards I can exit and re-enter and the subscription is active. If the issue happens again, try recording a video so I can better understand the steps to reproduce the problem.
P.S.
I'll think about changing this button into "settings" or something like that.
Has Cellular Synth gotten anywhere as far as updates? I remember the dev mentioning them as a strong case for having a subscription model, but the AppStore doesn’t show any. Was waiting on that before making the onetime purchase
@ValeryMironov any new features on the horizon/roadmap for future updates?
Hi. Thank you for your interest. I’m in a difficult situation right now — there are layoffs at my job, and I’m affected by them. The plans for future features are published on my website on the app’s page in the Q&A section. I’ll get back to you with updates, but a bit later.
So sorry to hear about the layoffs. Praying for better opportunities 🙏
Thank you very much for your support and understanding
Found your site, thanks! Ya, tough times these days, back to lookin for work myself, wish ya best of luck out there 🤙

Those updates sound wild! Can’t wait to see what you got cooking in action! Some of the wording I didn’t quite understand though. Are those updates solely dependant on a set number of subs? Like a quota?
Read the room, squish. Give it a rest for a while why doncha.
No, it’s not about quotas. What I mean is that the financial support I currently receive is enough to cover advertising, the website, the developer license, and other practical expenses — but it doesn’t yet allow me to focus on my own projects full-time.
Right now, I work on them only on weekends or during holidays. If at some point what I’m creating reaches a wider audience, I’ll be glad to invest more time and energy into it.
@ValeryMironov makes sense, thank ya kindly for clarifying! Its a really creative approach to synthesis, excited to see how it evolves 😉
Thank you. I also have another project that is currently available in beta. It’s much simpler in terms of features for now, but I think it offers an interesting way of discovering new wavetables in everyday noise. If you’re curious, feel free to take a look on my website — there’s also a link to join the beta.
Saw that when I visited to check the updates, installed the beta but haven’t had a chance to dive in yet. Will find some time this weekend for a long walk, take it for a spin. Very rad concept! Thanks again 🤙
Sentient is cool! Makes me think of Hexagliphics. Absolutely has potential as a live playing surface. AUv3 soon?
Thanks! Adding AUv3 support isn’t difficult, but before that I’d like to add polyphony. I’m planning to set aside some time to tidy up the current version, and I’ll include AUv3 support as part of that update.
I only skimmed this whole thread, but it at least made me interested to look into these apps. Downloaded the beta... haven't tried it yet.
FYI: Would probably be more apt to buy the Cellular one at the one-time price of $20 if it ALSO ran natively on macOS too, included.
By the way, it should work on Apple Silicon. I’ll check it in the next few days.
Guys, I checked — the app can definitely be downloaded and run on Apple Silicon. Unfortunately, it won’t work on Intel.

Today I worked on a major change to the sliders used for configuring the universe rules. In the next update, the current 9 options per slider will be replaced by logic that supports 512 options for each rule. This significantly expands the space for exploring unique parameter modulation patterns.
These 512 options become possible thanks to a bitmask: each slider can have multiple values active at the same time. For example, a condition for new life could be the presence of any number of neighbors from a given list — say, 2, 3, or 7. The same applies to keeping life.
Even with the standard presets, just playing with these two sliders, I found myself lost in the sheer number of possible modulation variations.
I’ve pinned a comment with an example demonstrating how the new rules work on my Telegram channel.
