LP and LauncPads
Hi everyone
I connected two launchpads to my iPad
Creating two grids of radio buttons
I set them up like this. When selecting any element, turn off the effect that is not needed, and by clicking on the buttons, turn on the presets I need. Both grids are completely identical in settings, only the plugins and their presets are different.
But one grid is picked up by the lunchpad, and the second is not (the active buttons glow brighter, the inactive ones just glow). Moreover, this problem is on both devices (launchpad mk2, launchpad mini mk3)
I've tried all the midi options.
on, off, on/off, hold
When I turned on the on/off mode, it worked a couple of times and stopped

I am not quite understanding what is being demonstrated.
Is this issue something that happens with only one Launchpad connected?
If so, can you put a Launchpad and ipad next to each other so we can see both at the same time?
Also try moving the radio button groups or resizing them in case the issue is one group being off the grid.
Not all feedback grids work. And I can't figure out what it depends on. Two identical grids with the same settings, but one is actively working with the lunchpad, and the other is not lit. And so it is on both devices. Even if you disconnect one from the iPad, the problem still remains
Did you try resizing and moving the radio button groups as I mentioned?
Are all the midi bindings in the project profile?
Can you post a video as I suggested with just one launchpad connected and the launchpad placed next to the ipad with both visible in the video frame. When you do that, also export a copy of yoir project, zip it and upload it into this thread.
I'm not sure which app you're using with your Launchpad over there. Is it possible that it's stuck in a specific mode?
From a quick Google search -
To change the mode on your Launchpad, press and hold the "Session" button to access the settings menu on most Novation models like the Launchpad X. From there, use the Scene launch buttons (colored purple for Legacy, green for Live, or orange for Programmer) to switch between modes. For other models or modes, you may need to press the "Custom" button to enter Custom mode or use the "Session" button to toggle between Session and Mixer modes.
The other option is to see if those buttons are actually working. There's a few apps that work natively on the iPad. Here's a few of my favorites
Ampify Launchpad
GridInstrument
RemixLive (you need the unlock)
But it's been a while since I've used the mk2 and mk3. Here's a video I did when I used both controllers.
LINK (outside of loopy pro)
Also try using a MIDI Monitoring tool. In the video I linked, I used MiniWrench, and I was able to quickly test which MIDI signal would send a white light to the controller.
Maybe it's not really sending a MIDI signal but a Sysex signal, which could support the theory that it keeps going into a custom mode.
@seonnthaproducer : this is a question specific to Loopy Pro and why the layout isn’t behaving as OP desires.
You're right. I'll take out the direct copy paste link. I mostly shared my perspective on the controller.
I had a similar failure when I started using my Launchpad mk2.
None of that relates to this situation. This is really a question about a specific situation with the loopy pro project and it’s representation on the Launchpad.
Question: are both Launchpads on the same factory default midi channel?
Or did you already change the channel of one of them so there aren't conflicting messaging issues?
Channels do not create problems, as loopy pro divides signals by devices in addition to channels. But the problem persists even when connecting a single launchpad. I noticed another problem. After assigning buttons via midilearn, there is a moment when the grid of LEDs flies off, and after that, even if you remove all the buttons from the screen, they still do not light up with the new assignments (launchpad mk2)
I will try to make a video soon. I'll also show you the newly found bugs. I haven't gotten around to it yet. Work takes up all the time. And then the dog had an operation and needs care, so I can't reach the iPad yet.
Hello everyone. When I started recording the video that I promised, strangely enough, the problem did not happen again. But then she reappeared. And I figured out what was going on. Maybe someone else will need it. It turns out that the coloring of the grid directly affects the display in the launchpad mk2. If you paint the grid in some non-bright colors, then it does not glow on the lunchpad. In order for everything to work correctly, you need to paint the grid in white, gray, blue or yellow, then everything works correctly.
