My Humble Introduction
First off, thank you so much for allowing me to join this forum.
Just briefly about myself.
I started writing music in 1977. I was horrible. I mean I was beyond horrible. My mother, who loves me more than anything, after listening to my "songs" said to me 'Steven, when are you going to get off the merry-go-round?" Because you see, my songs were just an unending loop. I had no sense of structure or anything for that matter. My friends laughed at me, for good reason. Why I continued is a mystery but I was determined not to give up.
So I went to college and took music composition.
I didn't get much better.
Years went by. Way too many years. I bought all the best gear, thinking that would make the difference. It didn't. Finally, in 2021. That's right, 44 years after my first song. I hooked up with a band out of Miami Florida that, for whatever reason, liked some of my songs. They asked if they could record them. I jumped all over it. I was so grateful.
They have since done 3 albums of my material. Of course much better than I could ever do. But they heard something in my music, something nobody else heard.
I still record my own songs but I realize I'm no performer and God knows no singer and I'll never have any success as a performer. But that's never what I wanted to be anyway. I just wanted to hear my songs on the radio. Well, that still hasn't happened because of where my cover group is popular but that's a long story for another time.
Anyway, I record using Cubase 14 and have every plugin known to man. I don't even want to know how much money I have spent so far.
I leave you with one of my recent songs. The singers are AI because God knows my voice is horrible.
Thank you again for letting me join this forum.

I think the song is wonderful, and it's great to meet new folks here.
My voice is horrible too, but I just use autotune. Not as a corrective measure but rather as an effect (think Eiffel 65, T-Pain, etc).
One of my main DAWs on iPad is Cubasis 3, so yeah, if I ever switched back to desktop or laptop, Cubase 14 would be my jam.
Cool, Cubase 14 is great. I love it. I think you will too. So where can I hear some of your music? Oh, and thanks for the kind words.
Bet. 😎 And my music is on Soundcloud and often linked here under the Creations section. I make all sorts of genres, with my latest fixation being DnB. Although I just finished some Ambient.
Cool. So you do all kinds of genres too. I do everything from Prog to Bubble Gum to Hip Hop and pretty much everything in between. Only thing I don't do is reggae. I just don't have the feel for it.
Anyway, will definitely check out your stuff. I'm Steven Wagenheim on Soundcloud if you see any comments from that person.
Cheers mate. I followed you there. 😎 And I did a couple Reggae tunes myself. I can produce just about anything and everything, my friend. Then again, it's prudent for me to know to produce many genres since I also do freelance work. ☺️
In like this song @wagtunes , it has a nice and uplifting sing-along with your friends at the pub vibe to it.
Thanks for the listen and the kind words. Where can I check out your music?
I know what you mean, but after reading the second part of the sentence I couldn’t get this out of my head:
Welcome aboard!
There's not a single soul amongst the boards who is not knee-deep in learning something new. Better yet, all willing to drop any knowledge if the question asked hits their wheelhouse
Could you link any of the band's productions of your works? Living vicariously through others' stories, I'd love to hear what you heard when, for the first time you got to experience your brain sounds being played out loud, by someone else's hands 😁
If not, no biggie
Either way, enjoy your stay!
And if you've got Discord, the Loopy Pro server is a brilliant Quick Question-N-Answer joint with a lot of familiar faces
Believe me, I'd love to spread their music all over the Internet but I can't. The distributor is a nut case. He thinks the whole world is filled with pirates and keeps all their distributions locked up to the point where the only way to hear their music is to pay for it. And I am forbidden from uploading anything. Such is life.
Anyway, thank you for the kind words and welcome. Where can I hear your music?
Re:music?
Hahaha fair enough, definitely know the types. If you ever get the 'go ahead' for a little sample at some point, please let us know 😁
Re:my stuffs
YouTube (papabpoppin there too... Just having issues formatting link lol), very minimal now, but a lil taste. Been tryin to get more up, however...life lol
Almost got hardware circuit complete to stream, so hoping that's up and moving in the next few months - Finger drumming, physically modeled instruments and beatbox is/will be focus of sounds
Loopy Pro, freestyled boombap (making minute long lofi/jazz bits and bobbles to resample to beats), production learning, tips tricks, practice/performance stuffs
Hoping to really join the community and give back as much as I've got from all the brilliant souls
I love when music is incorporated into comedy acts! 😄
No need to feel obliged. I listen for free. 🙂
Not at all. I love listening to other people's stuff. It gives me inspiration.
Welcome aboard!
You’ll find a few of us here that have been making music just as long, and believe it or not, some even longer.
I can believe it. There are a lot of old folks out there. LOL
