How long is there left ?
A title inspired by…
a) discussions with friends about ageing and mortality brought on by my impending 70th birthday and …
b) trying to produce something reasonable with the demo version of Pianoteq which stops producing sounds after an indeterminate length of time somewhere between 2 and a bit and 5 and a bit minutes.
In addition, various notes don’t play at all so given these limitations I tried to come up with something vaguely musical.
I finished up with ZOA playing 4 instances of the Kalimba instrument and me improvising and using GeoShred to play a 5th.

Thanks for posting this. I haven’t used ZOA in years. I’m playing with it now. Ironically, it has parameters called Life and Mortality! Hang in there. 70 is the new 40.
Ha ha, good spot @Paulieworld … it also has Pace ( gradually slowing) and I won’t mention what’s happening to Size 😊
Given your limitations, this is pretty cool. Certainly very relaxing.
That was great, loved it!
This is lovely! Thanks you
I didn’t expect this one to get much traction so many thanks @wagtunes , @AudioGus and @philowerx for noticing and commenting 🙏
I couldn't tell if the sounds cut out so it worked well! I love Pianoteq but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't have a desktop computer to use. It was great they allowed it on the ipad for free.
I will attest to that. 😎
My good friend who was a classical guitarist (and sadly missed) had this painting above his music study stand.

According to the (UK) Office for National Statistics, average life expectancy for a 70 year-old man is 86. This is fairly meaningless as you are an individual, not a population. Although perhaps there are many of you which might help explain your musical productivity.
I did demo all the Pianoteq idiophones during the BF sales but wasn’t impressed enough to buy. The kalimba did stand out though. I don’t know if it happens to you but I find that ZOA gets stuck in a loop after a few iterations even with auto re-spawn selected.
Just turned 71 myself and finding something calming about this piece. Thanks for sharing.
I know there have been a few polls about members ages but there does seem to be a preponderance of over 70 year olds, I’ll be there myself next week 👨🦳
I can’t justify (to myself) the cost of a full Pianoteq licence Andy ( @AndyHoneybone ), especially when you can work around some of the limitations… I agree that the Kalimba is one of the nicer sounding instruments.
I’m sure you know that many of the presets on ZOA are designed to get into a loop as they follow the rules from Game of Life ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway's_Game_of_Life ) and this can sometimes more useful than the ‘random’ notes that it generates.
Nice work Tony. In my opinion, making music is the best way to keep the clock ticking longer!
