Air pods sound thin in Cubasis 3.8
Anybody else have an issue with air pods sounding super thin and wimpy on Cubasis 3.8?
Huge difference in low end and overall sound quality compared to last night before updating app. I compared a mixdown of song then listened from Dropbox app and it sounded normal but the exact same track played in Cubasis audio very different.

I can confirm this. @LFS can you fix this? I'm on iOS 26.0.1 on iPhone, using current gen Airpods Pros, on Cubasis 3.8.
Also tested with my Beats Solo 4 bluetooth headphones. Same issue @LFS is Cubasis' audio quality seems to drop when using Bluetooth. Can you fix this, please? I rely on Cubasis for mastering my music.
Have you tried toggling Measurement Mode on or off in Cubasis audio settings?
Toggling that made Cubasis' output switch to the iPhone speaker.
This stinks, but for the time being useing my regular studio headphones and the dumb dongle works as expected
Hi all,
Thank you for your reports.
I'm able to reproduce the issue and shared the topic with our engineering.
We hope to have a fix available in the next update which is aimed to be released soon.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best,
Lars
Thanks mate.
Much appreciated.
Hi all,
Please try the following workaround to see if it helps resolve the issue for now:
Go to Setup > Audio
Tap Input in the Input & Output section.
Select iPhone or iPad microphone (depending on the device you’re using).
This should help resolve the issue and provide high-quality playback when using Bluetooth headphones.
Best regards,
Lars
It didn't work for me on either the Airpods nor the Beats 4 Solo headphones. iOS 26.0.1 on iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Hi @jwmmakerofmusic,
Since it’s not possible to attach video clips here, I’ve uploaded two clips via WeTransfer (the link expires in 3 days):

Hope this helps you check the settings to solve the BT phone playback issue.
Best regards,
Lars
Thanks mate. Okay, that helped a lot. I figured out what it was. Having Audioshare and Cubasis 3 open at once (Audioshare first) somehow forced the input settings to default to the airpods in Cubasis.
Hi @jwmmakerofmusic
So it works as a solution for the time being, correct?
Best,
Lars
That is correct, for the time being.
Also @LFS thank you and the team for all the hard work you put into Cubasis! It really is my favourite DAW for mastering, vocal recording, and sometimes larger projects which other DAWs cannot handle so easily.
Glad to read this, thank you @jwmmakerofmusic
You're absolutely welcome.
I'm passionate about the apps I love to use most. Cubasis is one of my "ride or die" apps.
If you would've told me Cubasis would get two new piano apps last month which double as AUv3 plugins, I probably would've avoided purchasing Ravenscroft. But as a pianist, it's good to have a couple more pianos at my disposal for when I start recording my piano playing.
As I previously said elsewhere, I do hope a drum module/Groove Agent will be added to Cubasis someday. I also produce beat-based music quite frequently. ❤️ I only ask that since, as I mentioned, I'm passionate about Cubasis.
And I want Cubasis to be my "everything" app. Also, LuFS metering so I needn't have to rely on Youlean's Loudness Meter.
All the Best and Happy Holidays,
Jim
I never noticed this issue on the beta because I don’t like using anything Bluetooth for music production. However, purely for listening I stream bluetooth audio to my hearing aids. I’ve noticed this issue with a couple of non music apps since iOS 26 so I tried them with Cubasis and yes, I see what you mean.
Yeah. I use Bluetooth because I hate getting tangled up in cords. 🤣 Plus I can keep my airpods in my shirt pocket just in case inspiration strikes while I'm out and about. For example, I started a new track in Auxy Studio on my bus ride home from work. Easy peasy.
Whatever works for you is awesome. I just can’t deal with the lag and the missing frequencies. When I’m out and about I actually carry closed back studio headphones in my backpack.
