Can I migrate an old Loopy project to LP 2?

Hello,

I need help migrating the custom setup I created a year ago in Loopy Pro (1) to Loopy Pro 2.

I spent weeks learning how to program Loopy to build a custom setup for my workflow. For personal reasons, I had to cease doing anything with iOS music a year ago, but I’m back now and discovered that while I was away, Loopy Pro 2 was released and is now the latest and greatest version. I’m using Loopy as a plugin hosted in AUM.

When I upgraded to LP2, it wiped out my custom project and wants me to start over. I’ve tried exporting to old project, hoping to import, but I don’t see how to do that.

1) Is it possible to convert the old projecto the new LP2? Or is that the problem?
2) If the answer is yes, then how do I do it?

I’m excited to see all the improvements, especially MIDI, in LP2. But I want to start where I left off a year ago and build on that. I invested a lot of time understanding widgets and building my layout, including pedal bindings.

I’m on an M2 iPad Air with the current iOS.

Thanks,

Steve

Upgrading to version 2 should not have resulted in any projects being deleted.

Did you delete the older version by a chance?

Nothing special needs to be done to convert projects. Old projects can be opened the same way new ones are.

Can you explain more about what you mean that you exported the project but don’t know how to import it? Where did you export it from? Where did you export it to?

Upgrading from Loopy P 1 to LP 2 should not wipe out any projects.
How is it that you say you’re exporting the project if it was wiped out?
Did you uninstall LP 1 first, or just upgrade from the App Store.
We're definitely not talking about Loopy HD at all here are we?

  • Thank you for your quick responses. You answered my basic question that upgrading to LP2 shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll try harder to solve this and get back to you if I’m still stymied. I think I need to study the wiki and manual about managing projects.

No, not Loopy HD. I upgraded from the App Store. In AUM I deleted the Loopy AU and reinstated. I know I have LP 2 because I see the options for MIDI in/out.

There hasn’t been any change to project management.. Your projects should be where you had them. If you were using it as an AU, hopefully you saved the project using the Save panel.
