Can this unusual pedal be somewhat replicated in iOS world?

Been trying to think of a method maybe using a combo of loopy pro and sparkle with a Bluetooth foot controller to get maybe some of what this does. Partly because I don’t need to buy another pedal right note and partly that I think they might be serious about the limited run thing. I particularly like the hold a button down to set a new time stretch length, definitely could be a great tool in the experimental jams our little group has every week…

  • That does look very cool. I imagine it could be approximated in supercollider or puredata, but who has the time?

I see that these are the Bigsby Pedal folks, which always intrigued me.

I see also that this device is not yet in the shop?

I’ve emailed them as I think they were intending to only sell a limited run but I managed to get in in my cart… pure data might be an interesting solution, could either run it on iPad or perhaps in my old organelle that way… hmm deeper dives needed, or perhaps just buy it if possible and see…

  • It’s not on iOS (yet) but maybe that new Transfigure from Sugar Bytes. Been a bit since I watched the walkthrough, I forget if you could use recorded material as your spectral “input”.
That thing looks bonkers though! Would love some demo posts after you get it if it’s not a bother 🤙

  • Since the box isn't available now:

  • Sparkle will do it as mentioned by @rototom and so will GSDSP‘s Magic Fusion (and then some):

I was also interested in this pedal but the lack of USB connectivity threw me off. I’d be interested to hear how you get along with it.

  • Ah great some interesting options showing up now, nice one @rs2000 I’ll check that patch out ASAP!

I did let the order go through using PayPal credit, kinda figured it’ll work itself out over the four months I’ve got to settle the bill and if it’s not what I’m expecting it’s probably an easy sale with the limited run…

Looks really interesting @rs2000, but I can’t get the download to open - it just loads up as an empty rack? Someone else commented the same on Patchstorage.

You're right, I'm sorry for the confusion. Drambo needs an update to load this patch. I'll keep you updated!

Ahh does that mean the beta? I installed the store version recently so I could complete the iaps, but I think I can reinstall from TestFlight if needs be…

    Cool, thanks for clarifying. Cheers.

So your impression is that the pedal is basically a vocoder with some other effects in the chain? Looking at the video, you may well be right.

  • It’s something like that I think, but the interface seems very performance friendly, especially the hold to retime the loop thing… I think there’s MIDI in as well so perhaps mapping a control or two to expression pedals will be interesting, and I wonder if those dials are usable with feet…

Yes, a spectral vocoder, i.e. you transform via the entire audio spectrum, not just a limited amount of frequency bands as in a typical vocoder. MorphWiz 2 is another app that does it, although I don’t own it so can’t say how well it works:

  • I do wish that a phase vocoder of a quality approaching that offered by Ircam could make it to iOS.
