This is lovely! I wonder Yvonne, how do you utilize such restraint in your Ambient pieces?
I want to learn to create more laid-back Ambient pieces like this.
Quite unsettling! Love it
A masterpiece, Yvonne!
Thank you so very much.
My best advice is don’t be afraid to leave a lot of space. The true master of space, to me, is Morton Feldman.
If you have a spare half hour sometime give a listen to his Rothko Chapel.
It’s pure sublime serenity.
So far I'm blissing out to this! Not done listening yet, but relaxing to it while I type.
@jwmmakerofmusic and @rottencat Maybe you can combine both your ambient talents, and create a track together.........just a thought
While you’re at it, here’s another piece I love. A portrait of a misty night on a seashore (complete with a foghorn!)
Thanks friend.
Not a bad idea, although I'm unsure how it'd work out given I usually work within a DAW, and our talented friend Yvonne works from AUM so it seems. And her work is far more accomplished than mine I admit. ❤️
Lovely piece. Sounds like an older piece of recorded piano music being played through a sentient radio that isn’t getting a good signal.
Oh, it never occured to me that it's a big reason why I like Yvonnes pieces so much. I few years ago I stumbled upon this quote, which is sometimes attributed to Mozart, sometimes to Debussy depending on the wording : "The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between". I often think about this when starting out a jam but almost always end up filling all the empty spaces... Definitely need more restraint!!
Same here. I definitely want to show more restraint, but filling up the empty spaces is so overwhelmingly tempting, lol.
Thanks @michael_m! That’s pretty much the mood I was aiming at.
Studying the snow heavy branches on the trees outside and while admitting it's beautiful to look at, I despise the idea of having to walk to the store in it (also -10° Celsius, brrr🥶 ). Anyway, nuff about my trivial shit, it was just that your music was very fitting to the outside picture. Cheers!
That was pretty much the weather conditions when I fashioned this track. (Still is!)
Thanks for listening!🙂
