Visual based mixing software for poor eye sight
I’m increasingly having hearing issues and altered eyesight due to my head pains.
This means that while I’m learning to mix properly, I can’t completely trust my hearing as that alters and with my eyesight altering too my various glasses are not always helping see what I’m doing either.
So, I’m after suggestions for mixing software that helps impart the most information in a neat but comprehensive manner. I use multiple DAWs and find some of the built in eqs etc, either lacking, or just too visually off putting.
I know this is such personal preference, but I hate downloading lots of demos of apps, so I’m trying to really narrow down my search first.
I’m especially wanting to hear experiences from any of you that have similar issues.
I’m mostly looking in the ‘a few hundred pounds’ arena and not wallet busting amounts, but post any ideas you have and I will soon see if it’s near my wallet capabilities or not!

Just to add. I’m using 13 inch MacBook Airs as my screen.
As my music making room shares its duties as our tv watching room too, a tv that is good enough to be used as a monitor is an in my plans, but as most tvs with great refresh rates cost over a grand, that purchase will have to wait lol
Sorry to hear about your health. I hope you will find a solution that helps you to enjoy music making and mixing.
For me personally the situation is that I am slightly short sighted, so I know how important eye friendly UIs are.
In cases where the iPad screen is too small I use a keyboard and mouse on the iPad, and share the screen via AirPlay with my computer/big screen. This makes it easier for me to work with apps that have a more complex UI: Wotja, Strokes etc.
As a DAW I do use Reaper (on Linux). Apart from the very affordable price, the fact that Reaper is highly customizable plays an important role for me. You have many different UI themes available and you can customize Reaper with extensions. If that's too difficult for you, then maybe you have someone to assist you with that. The screenshot below shows my basic Reaper layout that I use for online performances. It is set up that for example that symbol before the track name set's the tracks color. This is a layout that suits me well, you might want something different:
thanks for your input
really looking more for a vst solution more than another DAW, as I just couldnt ditch all my DAWs so soon after buying most of them lol. I did try Reaper when I was trying DAWs, but it just never clicked with me. I was told that it takes time to get it set up how you like, but something just didnt push me to make the effort.
As Reaper is pretty much a shell to put your own plugins in when compared to say Logic, do you use a third party EQ or other mixing tools?
Not at the moment. Because I mostly use Reaper for live performances (mixing, routing, real time effects) and recording but don’t do any serious mastering I am using Reapers built in EQ / effects or what the world of Linux FOSS provides for that purpose.
